Job Summary

A GSE Mechanic is a non-licensed person who possesses special skills which are of avalue to the Company in a particular subject or field as designated by management.

Responsibilities

  • The work of this mechanical classification includes the following: troubleshooting, disassembly, checking and cleaning, repairing, replacing, testing, adjusting, assembling, installing, servicing, fabricating, or towing any ground equipment while in service or while undergoing overhaul and/or modification.
  • Certifies for quality of workmanship, including signing mechanical releases on field work.
  • May be assigned to order, receive, inventory, secure or disburse parts and supplies on or off airport facilities.
  • May have other maintenance personnel assigned to assist in completing an assignment.
  • Works according to Company regulations and procedures and instructions from lead, supervisor or general manager.
  • Completes forms connected with work assignments according to established procedures and will communicate with other personnel as required.

Minimum Requirements

  • HS Diploma, GED or Equivalent
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Valid driver's license
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule for a 24/7 operation including nights, weekends, and/or holidays
  • Background check and drug screen required
  • Must be able to attain and sustain an Airport I.D. Badge
  • Must have a minimum of two (2) years documented training and/or job experience in the areas of welding, machinery, electrical and/or pneumatics.
  • Diesel experience required.
  • Must possess minimum established Company tool requirements.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language and be understood by others. May be required to possess Commercial Driver's License (CDL) depending on assignment. Knowledge-Skills-Abilities (Competency)

Preferred Skills

  • Paint and body experience preferred.
  • May be required to possess Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) depending on assignment.
  •  Working knowledge of computers and equipment 
  • Ability to solve problems under pressure

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

  • Employees work in the assured management areas of baggage, at repair stations, or at airfields and often must meet strict deadlines to maintain flight schedules.
  • Employees will be working with and exposed to the baggage handling system, mechanical parts, and vibration.
  • Employees may be exposed to various noise levels due to aircraft engines and equipment.
  • Employees bend, lean, and frequently reach ladders and scaffolding.
  • Employees are required to regularly speak and hear.
  • Employees are often required to reach with their hands and arms.
  • Employees may be required to perform a variety of activities that could include standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crawling, and climbing throughout their day.
  • Employees frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds with the help of teammates.
  • Employees will lift parts and tools for long periods of time and handle equipment such as transportation systems.
