Job Summary

A GSE Mechanic is a non-licensed person who possesses special skills which are of avalue to the Company in a particular subject or field as designated by management.

Responsibilities

The work of this mechanical classification includes the following: troubleshooting, disassembly, checking and cleaning, repairing, replacing, testing, adjusting, assembling, installing, servicing, fabricating, or towing any ground equipment while in service or while undergoing overhaul and/or modification.
Certifies for quality of workmanship, including signing mechanical releases on field work.
May be assigned to order, receive, inventory, secure or disburse parts and supplies on or off airport facilities.
May have other maintenance personnel assigned to assist in completing an assignment.
Works according to Company regulations and procedures and instructions from lead, supervisor or general manager.
Completes forms connected with work assignments according to established procedures and will communicate with other personnel as required.

Minimum Requirements

HS Diploma, GED or Equivalent
Must be at least 18 years of age
Valid driver's license
Must be able to work a flexible schedule for a 24/7 operation including nights, weekends, and/or holidays
Background check and drug screen required
Must be able to attain and sustain an Airport I.D. Badge
Must have a minimum of two (2) years documented training and/or job experience in the areas of welding, machinery, electrical and/or pneumatics.
Diesel experience required.
Must possess minimum established Company tool requirements.
Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language and be understood by others. May be required to possess Commercial Driver's License (CDL) depending on assignment. Knowledge-Skills-Abilities (Competency)

Preferred Skills

Paint and body experience preferred.
May be required to possess Commercial Driverâs License (CDL) depending on assignment.
Working knowledge of computers and equipment
Ability to solve problems under pressure
Pro-active attitude towards process improvement

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

Employees work in the assured management areas of baggage, at repair stations, or at airfields and often must meet strict deadlines to maintain flight schedules.
Employees will be working with and exposed to the baggage handling system, mechanical parts, and vibration.
Employees may be exposed to various noise levels due to aircraft engines and equipment.
Employees bend, lean, and frequently reach ladders and scaffolding.
Employees are required to regularly speak and hear.
Employees are often required to reach with their hands and arms.
Employees may be required to perform a variety of activities that could include standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crawling, and climbing throughout their day.
Employees frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds with the help of teammates.
Employees will lift parts and tools for long periods of time and handle equipment such as transportation systems.
