About the Role

The Manager Nuclear Medicine, in cooperation with the Director Radiology, is accountable for planning, organizing and administratively directing the daily clinical and business operations of the Nuclear Medicine Department. The Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations, including providing oversight of the administrative staff and technical staff which includes human resource functions, hiring, coaching, performance appraisals and ensuring clinical competency. The Manager will develop and manage the operational budget, purchasing, policies and procedures, and contractual agreements, and ensure compliance with regulatory bodies.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do  

  • Provides leadership and direction for the Nuclear Medicine Department and staff. Organizes, plans, and directs activities related to the Radiology Department.
  • Clearly defines authority and responsibility for all personnel and delegates duties to staff members.
  • Demonstrates basic working knowledge of radiology imaging principles, techniques, and ancillary equipment as they apply to the daily operations of the department. Remains current on technological and clinical advances in imaging.
  • Manages the daily operations of the department by mediating problems relative to patient access, scheduling, clinical care, morale, and other issues. Develops workable action plans to achieve operational goals and growth.
  • Ensures staff are performing quality radiologic exams and following the established protocols of University Hospital.
  • Monitors and assures the training and competency of all technical staff.
  • Utilizes interpersonal communication skills to convey a positive and supportive attitude.
  • Communicates well to staff, physicians, employees of University Hospital and community members.
  • Models exceptional customer service and interacts effectively with referring physicians, patients, and the broader healthcare community. Actively builds trust at all levels and ensures staff are treated with respect. Coaches and provides feedback to direct reports.
  • Monitors Nuclear Medicine volumes and physician utilization and presents the Director Radiology with opportunities for improvements and/or resolution.
  • Supports and assists with data collection for Performance Improvements while understanding the department performance trends and standards. Encourages others to contribute to Performance Improvement.
  • Holds regularly scheduled staff meetings. Attends other committee meetings as directed, representing the Radiology.

Qualifications

What You’ll Bring

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a health-related field required or a Master’s Degree in a health-related field preferred.
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine program with a valid license to work in the field of nuclear medicine technology in the State of New Jersey.
  • NJ State license and ARRT or NMTCB Certification and current active registration required.
  • At least five (5) years of relevant professional experience, including at least two (2) years of clinical patient care experience required.
  • Must have at least two (2) years of experience (three (3) years preferred) as a lead or supervisor.
  • This involves expertise managing direct reporting and overseeing the operations of a department or division.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to lead a team while maintaining optimal efficacy and efficiency.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required. Must be capable of organizing and prioritizing multiple concerns for resolution.
  • Must have great written and verbal communication skills.

Compensation

In compliance with New Jersey’s Pay Transparency Act, the salary range for this position is VS/33S: $120,720.00 - $150,896.00 - $181,077.00. University Hospital considers multiple factors when determining compensation, including (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s relevant work experience, education and training, key skills, internal equity, market data, and organizational needs. The expected salary range for this position is in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Law; final compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
