Position Summary / Objective The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of Pyrotecnico's special effects projects. This role ensures the safe and successful execution of events while collaborating closely with clients and internal teams to meet technical, creative, and operational requirements. The Project Manager plays a critical role in advancing technical planning, maintaining production quality, and upholding the highest safety standards across all projects. Position Responsibilities The following duties represent the primary responsibilities of the role. This list is not exhaustive. The individual in this position will perform additional tasks as assigned, adhere to all provisions of the Employee Manual, and participate in company initiatives and projects. Client & Stakeholder Coordination Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external clients to ensure a smooth transition from planning to execution. Coordinate equipment requirements, show schedules, design integration, and crew skill set validation. Define, develop, and communicate advanced technical requirements to clients to ensure successful event execution. Coordinate and conduct pre-show meetings with crews, special effects teams, and clients. Participate in post-event meetings with clients and Account Managers. Project & Production Management Manage multiple projects as assigned by the Director of Production. Oversee onsite pre-production and execution of large-scale one-off festivals, tours, award shows, sporting events, television productions, and other events per project plan, as defined by the Director of Production. Create and maintain organized, well-written project documentation. Create pull sheets as assigned. Track sales orders and manage projects in accordance with approved budgets and timelines. Technical Oversight & Problem Solving Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to event plans and onsite execution. Maintain fluent understanding of technical aspects of theatre and live event production. Apply knowledge of special effects, pyrotechnics, lasers, fireworks, stage rigging, basic electricity, carpentry, and AV systems to ensure safe and effective execution. Maintain basic knowledge of electronics troubleshooting and repair. Enforce all company and industry safety standards. Leadership & Continuous Improvement Identify business improvement opportunities, develop solutions, and manage related initiatives. Collaborate across departments to identify required resources and disciplines necessary for successful project execution. Work closely with and provide recommendations to the Director of Production regarding personnel, processes, and procedures. Work Environment Office-based with frequent work at live events, venues, and client meetings. Work occurs in both indoor and outdoor environments, including venues with stairs and multiple levels. Physical Demands This role requires the ability to remain stationary for extended periods and to move throughout offices and event venues. The individual must frequently climb stairs, travel, and navigate multi-level indoor and outdoor environments. The ability to routinely lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 75 pounds is required. Position Type / Expected Hours of Work Full-time position with a standard workday schedule. This role requires flexibility for evenings, weekends, and after-hours calls related to planning, process, and client needs. Overtime, if required, will be compensated in accordance with local, state, and federal laws. Travel This position requires travel a minimum of 50% of the time. Travel may be local or outside the local area and may require overnight stays. QualificationsRequired Previous experience as a Project Coordinator or Project Manager in one or more of the following areas: Music tours or large-scale live events Festivals or sporting events Live television productions Minimum of 5 years of fluent technical experience in theatre and/or live event production. Knowledge of proper and safe operation of special effects, pyrotechnics, lasers, and fireworks per company directives. Strong project management skills (PMI certification preferred). Proficiency in project management software; ability to learn company ERP and PM tools. Highly organized with the ability to manage complex, cross-functional projects. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a professional presence. Ability to build relationships, motivate teams, and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization. Goal-driven, flexible, and adaptable in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. Strong budgeting, scheduling, and time-management skills. Preferred Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred; equivalent relevant event experience accepted. Experience with Google Workspace, NetSuite, HubSpot, and Monday.com preferred.
