Crew Chief

Job Summary

The Crew Chief is a highly proficient team member who provides inspired customer service in the restaurant while being the front line of the leadership team. First in line for nurturing new hires in terms of our principles. Assist the Restaurant leadership team with store operations. Lead by example in terms of empathy, providing deliciousness to our customers, and assisting in creating a welcoming and safe work environment. The Crew Chief possesses a high sense of responsibility, quality, ethics, and integrity.

PEOPLE & CULTURE Communicate proactively, professionally, and positively with the team and guests. Follow up consistently with employees and managers to help bridge the gap between upper management and employees. Identify difficult situations and proactively escalate them to the manager. Represent Cornbread’s core values and company mission. Assist with the team's coaching to meet standards, perform well, and treat one another respectfully. Host daily pre-shift meetings and huddles. First in line to assist management in filling schedule gaps. Coach team to meet and exceed standards, perform well, and treat each other respectfully. Be an agent of change and take the lead in difficult situations.

HEALTH & SAFETY Follow all DOH and COVID-19 protocols to meet cleanliness standards. Ensure that all safety protocols are followed, even when you are not present. Utilize daily checklists. Ensure safety, harassment, injuries, or any other issues brought to your attention are reported and communicated to the Assistant Manager, General Manager, or District Manager immediately. Actively identify, coach, and correct unsafe practices and behavior. Ensure closing procedures are completed and offices are secure at all times.

HOSPITALITY Assist in creating and maintaining an environment that is passionate about hospitality. Maintain consistent guest contact on the floor utilizing the Figure 8. Assist in educating the team so that they are fluent with the Cornbread mission, values, culture, and the story of our brand. Learn how to build relationships with guests by communicating warmly and authentically. Seek opportunities to engage with guests and build community. Deliver timely, professional, and knowledgeable service. Exceed guest expectations.

BUSINESS ACUMEN Execute shift SOPs. Take the lead on customer complaints while on shift and escalate to leadership if necessary. Create opening and closing notes for each shift. Follow up with timely delivery of services and paper goods. Merchandise cash desk in accordance with Cornbread standards. Ability to perform all POS functions, including opening and closing procedures, comps, and voids. Identify areas of opportunity and gaps for team members in terms of training and work collaboratively with Restaurant Leadership to create performance improvement plans. Possesses the ability to problem solve with little supervision.

Qualifications

  • Food Service: 1 year of food service experience.

  • People skills: Dealing with the public and team proactively, professionally, and positively.

  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency in technology, reading, and working knowledge of spreadsheets required

  • Food Handlers certificate within 30 days or Serv Safe equivalent 

  • Ability to lift 30+ lbs and stand for long periods

  • Exhibit pride
