Job Title: Project Lead, 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21CCLC)
Location: Newark Tech, Donald Payne Tech, West Caldwell Tech, University High School & Eagle Academy
Position Type: Part-Time (18 Hours per week Monday-Friday 2:30pm-6:00pm)
Compensation: $25 per hour
Reports to: Site Managers, 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21CCLC)
Position Overview:
The Newark Youth Career ALI-YMS Pathways Success Centers provide one on one help for students and families looking to gain access to college, career and other post-secondary options. The 21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC) is a federally funded program supported by the New Jersey Department of Education. Provides out-of-school-time programs, including before school, after school, and summer activities. Project Leads serve as mentors and role models to students participating in the Pathways Success Centers. The primary responsibility of a Project Lead is to provide mentorship, guidance, and youth development support to high school students. Project Leads create safe, engaging, and empowering environments where young people can explore their interests, build leadership skills and prepare for future success. Project Leads also develop and facilitate workshops on personal, academic, and career development topics, working closely with Site Managers to ensure programming aligns with the goals of the 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant.
Key Responsibilities:
Mentoring & Youth Development
β Serve as a consistent and positive mentor to students, building trusting relationships and providing guidance on academic, social, and person growth.
β Model professionalism, leadership, and strong interpersonal skills.
β Support students in developing confidence, self-awareness, and future aspirations.
β Provide individualized check-ins, encouragement, and referrals to resources when needed.
Program Implementation
β Assist Site Managers in delivering high-quality afterschool programming.
β Maintain accurate attendance, participation, and incident records.
β Support special projects, events, and family engagement activities.
Collaboration & Professional Growth:
β Participate in staff training, planning meetings, and professional development sessions.
β Work as part of a team with Site Managers, staff, and community partners to strengthen programming.
Qualifications & Skills:
β Experience developing and facilitating workshops or group activities
β Ability to tutor in ELA or Math preferred
β Passion for mentoring and youth development
β Strong leadership and organizational skills
β Ability to connect with high school students and build positive relationships
β Excellent communication and teamwork skills
β Reliable, responsible, and committed to program success
