Job Description:

The Internships at this site will run on a 12-week program schedule from June 1, 2026 – August 21, 2026. This is a paid, full time (40 hours/week) position at the AstraZeneca manufacturing facility located at 587 Old Baltimore Pike, Newark, DE  19702. 

Over the course of the summer, each intern will perform department specific day to day activities as assigned by their Mentor-Supervisor.  Each intern will also be assigned a key project of which they will be responsible for leading, executing and reporting out on to Site Leadership and staff.  Internship Mentors will guide and coach interns throughout the summer. Interns will also have the opportunity to job shadow and participate in various lunch and learns to gain a broad understanding of all functions at the Newark site. 

Roles at Newarkcan fall under the following functional areas: 

Business Operations 

  • Supply Chain Intern 
    Contribute to the planning and coordination of materials, inventory, and logistics. Learn how medicines move from production to patients. 

Chemistry & Biology 

  • Quality Intern 
    Perform lab-based testing and support analytical methods to ensure product quality. Learn about Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and lab instrumentation.Learn how quality systems ensure patient safety and product integrity. 

Engineering & Technology 

  • Validation Intern 
    Assist in validating equipment, processes, and systems to meet regulatory standards. Learn how new technologies are qualified for production use. 

  • Packaging Maintenance Intern 
    Support maintenance and troubleshooting of packaging equipment. Gain hands-on experience with mechanical systems and production lines. 

  • Facilities Engineering Intern 
    Help maintain and improve building systems, including HVAC, utilities, and infrastructure. Learn how engineering supports a safe and efficient workplace. 

  • Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) Intern 
    Contribute to initiatives that promote a safe and sustainable workplace. Support risk assessments, audits, and environmental compliance efforts. 

Individual roles' requirements vary, and the below are applicable to all: 

  • Studying to complete Bachelor’s degree or higher in an area related to the role. We are primarily seeking students studying for degrees in Engineering, Life Sciences, Chemistry, Environmental Sciences, Safety Science, Operations/Supply Chain Management, or a related field.

  • Candidates must have an expected graduation date set for after August 2026 

  • Basic understanding of technical areas related to functional area of internship position. 

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are essential. 

  • US Work Authorization is required at time of application. 

  • Applicants must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa (e.g., CPT, H1-B, F-1 (OPT), TN, or other non-immigrant status). 

  • This role will not be providing CPT or OPT letters of support. 

  • Ability to report onsite to Newark, DE 5 days a week. 

  • Must have demonstrated ability to plan, implement, and achieve significant, complex goals and objectives. 

  • Must have experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
