Exceptional Care for Children (ECC) has an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and growing healthcare team as a Respiratory Therapist . We are seeking candidates available for Per Diem employment, as we are expanding our respiratory care department related to increased census.
ECC is a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization committed to providing the highest quality of care and services to pediatric patients requiring transitional, long term, and/or palliative care. We are an around-the-clock residential facility that provides skilled care to medically fragile children, birth to age 21, who have a technology dependency.

Responsibilities and Duties
- Provides care and advocacy to residents requiring respiratory expertise, and completes respiratory assessment of residents each shift.
- Participates in the care planning process.
- Assists with policy and procedure development and continuous quality improvement measures.
- Responsible for periodically covering school sessions, medical transports, and play therapy.
- Delivers periodic interdisciplinary in-service education to team members and responsible parties including mock codes and trach changes.
- Conducts parent/responsible party training and assess needs and deficits of the training parties under the direction of Director of Respiratory Services.
- Responsible for routine respiratory care; including equipment maintenance, respiratory treatments, troubleshooting equipment, etc.
- Provides daily interaction, including but not limited to frequent conversation, play and holding/cuddling of residents to provide daily stimulation.
- Committee participation including Admissions, Field Trip, and Education Committees.
Qualifications and Skills
- Education and experience sufficient to meet position requirements; Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT); active and valid license in State of Delaware (or ability to seek) required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and accessing electronic medical records.
- Exhibits positive communication techniques and skills and has ability to make oral presentations.
- Possess special interest in working with pediatric long term care residents and children with special needs.
- Ability to speak, read, and write English and to relate positively, effectively, and appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers, vendors and other staff members.
