Position: Procurement Specialist I

Reports to: Supply Chain Manager

Location: Newberg, OR

 

 

JOB SUMMARY


The Procurement Specialist I is responsible for generating and tracking purchase orders, monitoring orders from submission through receipt, and communicating with suppliers, internal customers, and stakeholders in a timely and professional manner. Assists the procurement team with projects as needed. This position offers opportunities for professional growth and development within the procurement function.

 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Issue purchase orders in compliance with company policies and government regulations
  • Ensure procured parts are delivered on schedule, at the negotiated price, and meet company quality standards
  • Maintain timely control of purchase orders, amendments, shipping notices, and related documentation to ensure accurate record retention
  • Track on-time deliveries
  • Maintain purchase order records, including shipping notices, delivery dates, documentation, and pricing
  • Coordinate appropriate methods for distributing commodities and parts in a cost-effective manner
  • Work with Accounting and Receiving to resolve invoicing issues, including pricing and quantity discrepancies
  • Demonstrate professionalism under pressure, maintain positive working relationship0s, exhibit reliable attendance and punctuality, and work overtime as needed to meet business needs
  • Act with a sense of urgency and provide timely updates to internal stakeholders
  • Travel occasionally, primarily within the local area
  • Provide project support as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned



EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • 1-3 years of verifiable procurement or purchasing experience
  • Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and basic procurement functions
  • Directly related purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment
  • CPIM or APICS certification preferred



QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships 
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop efficient systems and methods for planning and prioritizing work
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn

WORK ENVIRONMENT


The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. Office and travel have moderate noise levels. Machine/Product demonstrations and customer visits can have loud noise levels.


Noise levels may be extreme and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is provided and usage is driven by customer requirements. Other required PPE includes, but is not limited to, steel toe boots, hardhat and safety glasses. Customer working environments can be extreme in regard to height, confined space, physical requirements and hazards.
