Base Location: Newburgh, NY
Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30am - 3:30pm
Pay Rate: $24.11/hr

About the Role
The Day Habilitation Program Assistant & Driver supports adults with developmental disabilities as they participate in meaningful daily activities both at the program center and throughout the community. This role combines safe transportation responsibilities with direct participant support to help individuals achieve personal goals, increase independence, and enjoy enriching life experiences.
The ideal candidate is compassionate, dependable, flexible, and committed to creating a positive and inclusive environment for all participants.
What You’ll Do
- Provide safe and reliable transportation for participants between their homes, the program center, and community activitiesÂ
- Assist individuals who use wheelchairs or other mobility devices during transportation and activitiesÂ
- Support participants during daily activities while encouraging independence and participationÂ
- Assist with daily living needs including lunch support, toileting, mobility, and other personal care tasks while maintaining dignity and respectÂ
- Foster a welcoming, supportive, and positive environment for participantsÂ
- Build strong, respectful relationships with participants, families, and team membersÂ
- Contribute observations and feedback to individual support plansÂ
- Complete required documentation including daily notes and monthly reports accurately and on timeÂ
- Collaborate with team members and provide support wherever needed to ensure quality participant experiencesÂ
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have
- A valid, unrestricted New York State driver’s license with a clean driving recordÂ
- Strong verbal and written communication skillsÂ
- A compassionate and respectful approach when working with individuals with disabilitiesÂ
- Willingness to assist with personal care and daily living tasksÂ
- Strong organizational skills and flexibility in a dynamic environmentÂ
- A high school diploma or equivalentÂ
It would be a plus if you also have
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilitiesÂ
- CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain certificationÂ
- College coursework in human services or a related fieldÂ
- Bilingual skills, particularly Spanish-speaking abilityÂ
