This position is a member of the operations and manufacturing team with a focus in optics for imaging and laser applications programs. The work includes additive manufacturing, diamond turning and optical fabrication team and engineering to meet project timelines and goals.
The position develops concepts and solutions for optical systems that meet U.S. Department of Defense customer requirements. Primary product applications include imaging and laser-based systems. This position is an opportunity to contribute in developing cutting edge technology.  

Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Provides a weekly status on all development projects they are responsible for and makes recommendations concerning all aspects of the projects.
  • Primary responsibility is to run the diamond turning machine.
  • Setup machine based on drawings.
  • Recommend and help design fixturing.
  • Datron and polishing package and sort lenses per specifications and blueprints.
  • Other projects and tasks assigned by management.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Mechanical background preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of geometrical optics and physical optics.  Familiar with interferometry, optical testing, and optical alignment techniques.

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Strong skills in oral and written communication and the ability to present technical subjects clearly in team meetings and project reviews.
  • Ability and willingness to work well with others in a collaborative team environment.
  • Able to read blueprints.
  • Able to use micrometers, drop indicators, and calipers.
  • Self-motivated, capable of setting and reaching ambitious goals.
  • Excellent communication skills, detail oriented, and well organized.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Conscientious of safety for self and others.
  • U.S. citizenship is required for this position.
  • Regular on-site attendance is a necessary function of this position. 

Preferred Skills/Abilities:
  • Graduation from an optical technician training program.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear; use hands and fingers to handle and touch objects, tools, or controls to work in a production environment. Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus to work. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Able to bend, pull, and lift to 15 pounds at times.
