Position Summary
The Senior Interior Designer plays a pivotal role in expressing and elevating the Chinburg brand across a wide range of market sectors. Working in close partnership with the Director of Commercial Design, this position helps shape cohesive, thoughtful environments that reflect both creative vision and strategic business objectives.

As a collaborative contributor, the Senior Interior Designer collaborates with developers, clients, architects, vendors, and construction teams to align design excellence with project performance. They contribute actively to problem‑solving, ideation, and design refinement, helping to strengthen the collective design voice of the organization.

Primary Responsibilities
- Participate in meetings with developers, clients, architects, engineers, and vendors to collaboratively guide interior and exterior design decisions, selections, and finishes.
- Prepare and present creative, strategic design solutions through construction documents, sketches, renderings, mood boards, and schedules.
- Collaborate with A/E/C partners to develop coordinated construction documents and ensure compliance with life‑safety and building codes.
- Propose selections and finishes—including lighting, furniture, and décor—that support project vision, brand standards, and budget.
- Work with the Purchasing Coordinator to obtain quotes, place orders, schedule deliveries, and support interior staging.
- Plan and participate in the staging and installation of furniture and décor.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop wayfinding and signage packages that reinforce cohesive brand integration.
- Partner with the design team to continually refine and elevate Chinburg’s brand standards.
- Contribute to maintaining and improving design studio standard operating procedures.
- Conduct field measurements and develop existing‑conditions drawings as needed.
- Support team growth by mentoring junior designers and interns when appropriate.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or Revit (both preferred), Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to generate thoughtful, innovative design solutions across all project phases, grounded in program requirements, budget, and client goals, with the flexibility to pivot as needed.
- Experience reviewing and managing design development documents, construction drawings, and shop drawings for accuracy and completeness.
- Strong presentation skills with the ability to clearly articulate design concepts to clients and internal teams.
- Experience collaborating with A/E/C teams across commercial, hospitality, multifamily, and residential sectors.
- Solid understanding of design fundamentals, construction methods, materials, and detailing.
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, highly collaborative, interdisciplinary, client‑focused environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trusted relationships.
- Positive, flexible, team‑oriented mindset.
- Passion for design, strong visual sensibility, and the ability to guide project teams toward shared success.
- Detail‑oriented with the ability to manage projects independently while staying aligned with team objectives.

Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (BFA or BS) in Interior Design or Architecture
- 5–10 years of related commercial interior design experience
