Overview

We're hiring a full-time Medical Assistant to support our providers in our Newnan and LaGrange, Georgia offices.

 

This is a hands-on clinical position ideal for a Medical Assistant who enjoys working directly with patients and providers, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is committed to providing an exceptional patient experience. Phlebotomy experience is required. Dermatology experience and Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credentials are preferred but not required.

 

Applicants seeking part-time hours may also be considered.

Schedule:

This position supports both our LaGrange and Newnan offices each week:

  • Monday & Tuesday: LaGrange, GA | 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Wednesday & Thursday: Newnan, GA | 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Some Fridays: 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Reliable transportation and the ability to work at both office locations are required.

Responsibilities

As a Medical Assistant, you will work closely with our dermatology providers to deliver high-quality patient care while supporting an efficient clinic workflow.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Room and prepare patients for examinations and procedures
  • Obtain and document medical histories, medications, and chief complaints
  • Assist physicians and advanced practice providers with patient care
  • Assist with biopsies, excisions, cryotherapy, and other in-office dermatologic procedures
  • Perform venipuncture and collect laboratory specimens
  • Prepare and label pathology and laboratory specimens
  • Administer medications and injections as directed
  • Prepare procedure rooms and sterilize instruments
  • Accurately document patient encounters within the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Educate patients regarding medications, wound care, procedures, and treatment plans
  • Coordinate laboratory testing, pathology results, and follow-up care
  • Maintain exam room supplies and clinical inventory
  • Support providers and team members to maintain an efficient patient flow
  • Provide compassionate and professional care throughout the patient experience
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Previous Medical Assistant or comparable clinical patient care experience
  • Phlebotomy experience
  • Ability to reliably commute between the LaGrange and Newnan office locations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment

Preferred

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program
  • Bachelor's degree in a pre-med, pre-physician assistant, or related healthcare field
  • 1-2 years of recent Medical Assistant or clinical patient care experience
  • Previous dermatology experience
  • Experience assisting with biopsies, excisions, sutures, cryotherapy, or cosmetic procedures
  • Experience using an EMR

Licensure/Certifications/Education

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday
  • Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, balancing, and repetitive movements
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for clinical procedures and documentation
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, providers, and team members
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 30 pounds
  • Ability to safely handle medical supplies, instruments, and office materials
  • Potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens, infectious diseases, chemicals, and sharps while following required safety precautions
