Position Summary

The Senior Low Voltage Manager owns the operational leadership of the LVC team — people, projects, budget, and delivery. This role is accountable for the overall performance of the low voltage business line: staffing and developing design, field, and PM staff; managing project portfolio health (schedule, margin, quality); owning client and subcontractor relationships at the account level; and partnering with the Principal Low Voltage Designer and other technical leads to ensure operational execution matches technical standards.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Team Leadership & People Management

  • Directly manage Project Managers, Field Supervisors/Foremen, and design leadership (Lead/Principal Designers or Design Managers, depending on org structure)
  • Own hiring, performance management, career development, and succession planning for the LVC team
  • Set team goals, conduct performance reviews, and manage compensation planning in partnership with HR
  • Build a scalable team structure as the LVC business line grows, including recommending new roles (e.g., this Sr. Manager position itself)

Operational & Project Delivery

  • Own portfolio-level visibility into project schedule, budget, margin, and quality across all active LV projects
  • Identify and resolve resource conflicts, staffing gaps, and cross-project prioritization issues
  • Escalation point for at-risk projects; drive corrective action plans with PMs and field leadership
  • Partner with Estimating and Sales on staffing feasibility and delivery risk for new bids

Financial & Business Performance

  • Own the LVC department's P&L inputs: labor utilization, project margin, overhead cost management
  • Review and approve project budgets, change orders, and major procurement decisions
  • Report business line performance (revenue, margin, backlog, utilization) to senior leadership
  • Support annual budgeting and headcount planning for the LVC department

Client & Stakeholder Relationships

  • Own executive-level client relationships for key accounts and major projects
  • Represent LVC in cross-departmental leadership meetings (Operations, Sales, Engineering)
  • Manage escalated client issues related to schedule, quality, or service delivery
  • Negotiate key subcontractor and vendor agreements affecting LVC delivery

Standards, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure field and project operations comply with safety programs, licensing requirements, and company policy
  • Partner with the Principal Low Voltage Designer to ensure operational practices align with design and technical standards
  • Own or oversee LV licensing compliance for the team (state licensing, certifications, continuing education)

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a degree in Information Technology or related field or equivalent work combination.
  • 10+ years of experience in low voltage systems (structured cabling, security, fire alarm, AV, and/or BAS), including field, design, or project delivery experience
  • 5+ years of direct people management experience, ideally managing PMs, field supervisors, or technical staff
  • Demonstrated track record managing multi-project portfolios, budgets, and P&L-level accountability
  • Strong working knowledge of LV codes/standards (BICSI, NFPA, TIA/EIA) sufficient to partner effectively with technical leadership
  • Experience managing client relationships at an account/executive level

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background or fluency in network engineering/IT infrastructure — valuable given ongoing convergence of LV systems onto IP networks
  • PMP or equivalent project/program management certification
  • Experience scaling a team or department through growth (hiring, structure design, process build-out)
  • Familiarity with ERP/PSA tools used for resource and financial management (e.g., Procore, Viewpoint, similar)

Pay

This is a salaried position starting at $118,000.00(or applicable minimum salary, if higher) and pays up to $163,000.00, based on experience and qualifications. In addition, this role is eligible for bonuses based on performance metrics.
