Job Summary

Supports the planning, coordination, installation, integration, testing, and lifecycle support of U.S. Navy C5I systems ab oard ships under construction and modernization at HII Newport News Shipbuilding. Serves as the technical liaison between Government representatives, shipyard personnel, engineering organizations, and installation teams to ensure complex shipboard systems are installed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved engineering and installation requirements.

Travel is not required. Telework is not supported. 

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provides onsite technical support for the installation, modernization, testing, and sustainment of Navy C5I systems aboard ships under construction, overhaul, and modernization.
  • Coordinates installation activities with HII Newport News Shipbuilding, Government representatives, engineering teams, and Alteration Installation Teams (AITs).
  • Reviews engineering drawings, Technical Instructions (TIs), installation packages, ship alteration records, and technical documentation to ensure installation readiness and compliance.
  • Conducts shipboard surveys to evaluate existing configurations, identify installation impacts, and develop technical recommendations.
  • Supports installation planning, equipment integration, system interoperability, and risk mitigation efforts throughout the installation lifecycle.
  • Troubleshoots complex electrical, electronic, and networked systems during installation, testing, and operational verification.
  • Performs system inspections, operational testing, validation, and acceptance activities to verify installation quality and technical compliance.
  • Identifies installation issues, evaluate technical impacts, and develop corrective action recommendations to minimize schedule delays and operational risk.
  • Prepares technical reports, installation status updates, survey findings, deficiency reports, and recommendations for Government review.
  • Provides technical guidance and mentorship to installation personnel and support teams during execution of complex shipboard installations.
  • Coordinates multiple installation efforts simultaneously while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project schedules.
  • Recommends process improvements and installation best practices that improve efficiency, quality, and overall mission execution.
  • Supports Government meetings, planning conferences, production reviews, and technical discussions as required.

Qualifications and Skills

Required knowledge and years of experience

Possesses extensive experience supporting Navy shipboard electronics installations and has the technical expertise to troubleshoot, evaluate, and resolve complex installation challenges while ensuring schedule, quality, and mission requirements are achieved. Must have at least ten (10) years of experience supporting U.S. Navy Shipboard C5I or electronic systems installations. Must have a strong understanding of Navy installation processes and procedures. Must have knowledge of shipboard network integration and interoperability testing. Previous experience working within Newport News Shipbuilding or another major naval shipyard.

Education Requirements

Associate's degree in Electronics, Engineering Technology, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline preferred. Relevant military experience or equivalent technical experience may be substituted for formal education.
