We’re seeking a strong, proactive Structural Department Manager to lead Structural, Pipe, and Labor Departments while driving accountability, efficiency, and continuous improvement. This is a high-impact leadership role with visibility across executive leadership and project teams.

What You’ll Do

Lead and manage Structural, Pipe, and Labor Departments supporting ship repair and modernization projects.

Oversee structural steel fabrication, hull modifications, deck and bulkhead repairs, piping installation and testing, and general labor support.

Ensure all work complies with NAVSEA Standard Items, U.S. Navy requirements, OSHA, and regulatory standards.

Drive department productivity, quality, and on-time schedule performance.

Develop and track daily, weekly, and project-based production metrics.

Implement systems for accountability in labor, materials, equipment, and financial performance.

Coordinate with executive leadership, Production, Engineering, Planning, and PMO to remove bottlenecks.

Lead hot work operations including permitting, fire watch, and safety compliance.

Grow department capabilities to reduce subcontractor dependence and expand business opportunities.

Train and develop Assistant Superintendents, Foremen, Leads, and production teams.

Support hiring, workforce planning, performance reviews, discipline, and CBA compliance.

Advise Project Managers on status, obstacles, and recovery plans to beat project goals.

Champion new technologies and continuous improvement initiatives.

What We’re Looking For

10+ years of shipyard or heavy industrial experience (required).

Extensive knowledge of ship repair processes and federal contract environments.

Experience with U.S. Navy ship repair and NAVSEA regulations (preferred).

Strong leadership presence with the ability to build accountability and department culture.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications.

Experience managing structural welders, fitters, pipefitters, and labor crews.

Strong communication skills — verbal and written.

Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.

High School Diploma required; Associate’s Degree in Industrial Trades/Applied Science preferred.

Work Authorization & Clearance Requirements

Must be a U.S. Citizen (required for base access).

Must be able to obtain TWIC and DBIDS credentials.

Must provide proof of legal authorization to work in the United States.

Valid Hawaii REAL ID-Compliant Driver’s License (Class 3 or higher) or valid U.S. Passport + Hawaii Driver’s License.

Reliable transportation required.
