Nursing Assistant - Private Duty

Overview
Works under the supervision of Registered Nurse in providing care according to the plan of care for the patients (including those needing special precautions). In addition, this position must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and provide the care needed as described according to the departmental policy and procedure. Promotes and maintains safe work environment for patients.

What you will do

• Provides personal care, comfort measures, and specified treatments to assigned patients in case load. Reports any changes in the client's condition and/or needs to the assigned supervising Registered Nurse.
• Follows the plan of care that assures patients receive consistent, competent, and ethical care, within legal standards of practice, while maintaining privacy and support for the patient’s value system. Provides care consistent with both verbal and/or written instructions. Understands assigned plans of care within appropriate scope of practice and responsibilities as directed by the RN/LPN to include accurately completing all required documentation.
• Ensures availability of resources (equipment, instruments, supplies) necessary to ensure positive patient outcomes. Recognizes emergency situations and responds competently.
• Completes appropriate documentation and patient notes in compliance with departmental policies and procedures.
• Participates in training and support of all team members, volunteers and students as needed.

Qualifications

Education

• Program Graduate, Nurse Aide Training or Certificate Program approved by VA Board of Nursing (Required)

Experience

• Prior experience in health care setting (Preferred)

Licenses and Certifications

• CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) within 30 Days(Required)
• Drives personal vehicle for RHS business 25% or more of the time to perform essential functions of the job
• Valid Drivers License Required
