Overview
Pharmacy Technician Certified III is responsible for providing technical support of pharmacy services including, but not limited to, distributing pharmaceuticals, performing inventory control, completing compliance audits and financial transactions, providing customer service, and maintaining pharmacy records. Performs pharmacy–related duties in compliance with department policies and procedures and state/federal law and regulation and arranges sequence and timing of work to meet normal and variable work requirements. Is able to function independently in all pharmacy function within the department. Serves as a subject matter expert in at least one functional area, including leading process improvement and policy development related to area(s) of specialty and is able to function as a trainer in at least one functional area.

What you will do
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of pharmacy practice and workflows to provide quality patient care and meet safety standards. Successfully completes annual state and facility requirements for mandatory competencies within required time frames.
  • Provides technical support of pharmacy services including receiving and confirming prescriptions, preparing and dispensing prescriptions, distributing pharmaceuticals, and maintaining pharmacy records.
  • Interacts with customers and peers using excellent customer service skills. Answers questions and owns issues to completion, including follow up to ensure needs are met. Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills Utilizes Care Difference principles in performance of duties.
  • Completes compliance audits and financial transactions. Assists management with inspections, audits, reports, and training to ensure compliance and quality. Understands and maintains compliance with facility, DNV, State, and HIPPA requirements.
  • Functions as a trainer in at least one of the following areas: Chemotherapy Admixtures, Automated Dispensing Device Management, Controlled-Substance Accountability, USP 797 IV Sterile Preparation, Pharmacy Purchasing/Inventory Management, Medication History, Non Sterile Compounding, Medication Billing/Audits or other area as defined by manager/director.
  • Works within RHS's policies and procedures.
  • Monitors/supports departmental productivity to meet the needs of the department i.e. flexing hours, shift changes and time off.
  • Demonstrates and maintains competency in all assigned technician tasks/functions for assigned practice setting.

Qualifications

Education
  • Program Graduate, Pharmacy Technician Training or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience
  • 3-4 years Pharmacy Tech experience (Required)
  • 1 year Pharmacy Technician experience in practice setting (e.g. Hospital, Retail, or Specialty) (Required)
  • 1 year Deemed full competent in all aspects of Pharmacy Technician Certified II (Required)

  • Pharmacy Technician Specialty Certification (e.g. Sterile Compounding, Medication History, Purchasing, etc.) Upon Hire (Preferred)
