Labor Pool-Flexible Hours this position is located at Riverside Diagnostic & Breast Imaging Center Oyster Point-895 City Center Blvd Suite 104, Newport News, VA 23606

Position:

Hourly labor pool (as needed), non-benefited, preferably averaging at least 4 shifts per month, with at least one Saturday.  

Hours:

Monday-Friday 8.5 hours (can be variable) between 7am to 4:30pm

Saturday 7:30am to 4:00pm

Scope of position:

Assisting with Breast Biopsies, IV's and Radiology contrast reactions. 


RN Imaging RDC is responsible for assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating the total nursing care of assigned patients. The RN utilizes communication, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making to create a care plan for each patient based on physiological, psychosocial and cultural diversity. Responsible for supervising and delegating non-professional personnel working directly with him/her to ensure optimum patient care. Works under the direction of leadership and a multi-disciplinary team to provide a comprehensive range of services or clinical care associated with and in accordance with standards of excellence established by Riverside Health system and facility goals and strategic plans.

What you will do

  • Assess patient before, during, and after procedures and provide appropriate care. Perform procedures including, but not limited to checking and recording vital signs, medication administration, guided-needle biopsies, and IV starts under direction of Provider.
  • Ability to delegate and prioritize tasks appropriately to facilitate quality patient care and ensure patient care needs are met. Able to recognize and respond to emergency situations. Evaluates own needs for support and uses identified systems to meet need.
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency to facilitate patient throughput to assure patients receive consistent, competent, and ethical care. Focuses on quality outcomes of patient care when addressing customer’s needs to include current evidence based practice and quality measures.
  • Demonstrate competence in dealing with needs of the specific patient populations, including critical care patients, served in Imaging Services and ability to modify education method to ensure patient/family comprehension. Educates by assuming responsibility to individualize and coordinate patient education, and discharge specific education that includes family/caregiver. Evaluates for patient comprehension and documents.
  • Partners with patients and families to develop, implement and evaluate plan of care, treatments and procedures that contribute to the physiological and psychosocial outcomes of the patient. Assesses and incorporates evidence-based standards of practice. Collaborates with interdisciplinary team in the coordination care. Facilitates safe patient transitions to the next care setting as part of plan of care.
  • Accurately completes all required clinical and quality documentation consistently per RHS standards and regulatory requirements. Review reports such as monthly imaging data, biopsy reports, and crash cart files.


Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelors Degree, Nursing (Preferred) or
  • Associates Degree, Nursing (Preferred) or
  • Program Graduate, Nursing (Nursing Diploma is minimum education requirement, Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Nursing accepted in lieu of Nursing Diploma) (Required) and
  • High School Diploma or GED, HS Diploma/GED only required if Nursing Diploma Graduate (Required)


Experience

  • 1 year Related Experience (Preferred)


Licenses and Certifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) Licensed as Registered Nurse by the state of Virginia or compact state Upon Hire(Required) and
  • CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire(Required) and
  • ACLS Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire(Required)
