Riverside Health System is seeking a full-time dedicated and skilled Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our Cardiac Electrophysiology team in a dynamic role that blends both inpatient and outpatient care. Located in Newport News Virginia.
This position offers a unique opportunity to work alongside a collaborative team of cardiovascular specialists, providing comprehensive care to patients with arrhythmias and other cardiac conditions.
Position Highlights
Dual Setting: Balance of hospital-based care and outpatient clinic responsibilities.
Clinical Duties:
Evaluate new referrals and manage follow-up visits in the outpatient setting. Perform inpatient consultations and daily rounding.
Support coordination and discharge planning for electrophysiology procedures.
Focus Areas: Arrhythmia management, cardiovascular risk education, and patient-centered care.
Inpatient Responsibilities
- Provide inpatient EP consultations and daily follow-up care
- Evaluate and manage patients with atrial fibrillation, SVT, ventricular arrhythmias, syncope, and other rhythm disorders
- Collaborate closely with EP physicians on care planning and clinical decision-making
- Assist with care coordination, discharge planning, and patient education
- Review telemetry, ECGs, labs, and diagnostic studies relevant to EP care
Outpatient Responsibilities
- See new and established EP patients in the clinic setting
- Conduct post-procedure and longitudinal follow-up visits
- Manage antiarrhythmic and anticoagulation therapies under physician guidance
- Provide patient education on arrhythmia management, procedures, and lifestyle modifications
- Coordinate care with referring providers and other cardiology subspecialties
- Assist with device-related patient care, follow-up, and coordination with device clinics
- Participate in quality initiatives, workflow improvement, and program growth
- Accurately document all clinical encounters in Epic in accordance with regulatory and billing requirements
Qualifications
- Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with current licensure in Virginia (or ability to obtain)
- Prior cardiology experience required; EP experience strongly preferred
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
- Excellent communication skills with patients, physicians, and staff
Additional Requirements:
- Eligibility for Virginia medical licensure
- Valid DEA registration
