Position Description
The individual filling this position is responsible for contributing to the mission, vision, and ministries of the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board by fulfilling the following duties, functions, and responsibilities.
Title: Carson Springs Maintenance Coordinator
Group: Mission Support Group Work Location: Conference Center
General Classification: Ministry Assistant (Non-Exempt) Time: 100%
Immediate Supervisor: Carson Springs Manager
Principal Function: Perform routine and special maintenance on all conference center and camp facilities and grounds.
Essential Functions: (Employee must be spiritually, physically, mentally, and emotionally able to fulfill these assignments and tasks to fill this position.)
1. Conduct assigned ministry with “Christ-Like Servant Spirit,” guided by TBMB mission, priorities, strategies, and goals.
2. Contribute to all phases of responsibilities to the Mission and Objectives of the organization.
3. Exercise discipline to complete tasks and work alone with general supervision.
4. Provide support and assistance to assigned group and other groups within the organization, while building and maintaining positive working relationships.
5. Work overtime and irregular hours, as necessary.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
6. Responsible for all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and grounds maintenance necessary to always keep facility in superior operating condition.
7. Develop and implement plans for preventative maintenance for all building and grounds systems.
8. Operate pool filtration system. Maintain systems according to standards of the state and federal regulatory agencies. Maintain necessary certification for operation of all systems.
9. Work conference center manager to plan and implement a long-term and on-going program of landscaping and beautification of grounds.
10. Be knowledgeable of, follow, and train staff on OSHA chemical hazards, keeping Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) updated.
11. Regularly inspect all conference center property buildings, grounds, and safety systems.
12. Purchase and maintain inventory of necessary maintenance and repair items, supplies, and equipment.
13. Ensure that property maintenance vehicles are maintained properly.
14. Maintain all facility maintenance equipment in good operating condition and implement needed repairs.
15. Assist in assuring security and safety precautions are taken by staff and guests.
16. Assist guests and groups using the conference center and camp with any needs and help them to understand all policies and procedures.
17. Perform all other duties as needed or assigned.
Physical Requirements for Individual in Position:
1. Frequently walks extended distances, stands, and sits, bends, squats, crawls, reaches, kneels, balances, pushes and pulls.
2. Frequently lifts and carries up to 34 pounds, occasionally lifts, and carries up to 100 pounds.
3. Continual use of manual dexterity and gross motor skills with frequent use of bi-manual dexterity and fine motor skills.
4. Position requires being around moving machinery, exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, driving automotive equipment and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases.
5. Frequently spends time in outdoor weather conditions, occasionally works in normal office conditions.
Preferred Qualifications for Applicants:
Credentials and experience:
1. Education: HS diploma or G.E.D. Two years college or vocational/technical school
2. Experience: One to three years related experience.
Knowledge and Skills:
3. Ability to make repairs to building components and systems, fixtures, equipment, and furniture.
4. Understand basic theory of equipment operations and maintenance, and kitchen equipment operation.
5. Communicate effectively through written communication and verbal conversation.
6. Operate camp vehicles on and off conference center property in a legal and safe manner.
