Claw and Hammer Fine Dining Restaurant in Newport, Rhode Island is seeking a skilled and motivated Line Cook to support our culinary team in delivering high-quality, refined dishes with consistency and precision. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and passionate about fine dining cuisine, with a strong understanding of kitchen operations and food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and execute menu items according to established recipes, plating standards, and chef instructions
- Maintain consistency, quality, and presentation of all dishes during service
- Set up and stock assigned station with necessary supplies and ingredients
- Work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-standard kitchen environment
- Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures at all times
- Communicate effectively with the kitchen team to ensure smooth service
- Assist with prep work, daily specials, and seasonal menu items as needed
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstation before, during, and after service
- Properly store food and follow FIFO (First In, First Out) practices
- Support team members to maintain overall kitchen efficiency
Qualifications & Skills
- Previous line cook experience; fine dining experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, knife skills, and kitchen equipment
- Ability to follow recipes and instructions precisely
- Excellent time management and multitasking abilities
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift kitchen equipment or supplies as needed
- Culinary degree or formal training a plus, but not required
