As the first point of contact for our dining guests, you will set the tone for an experience defined by gracious hospitality, thoughtful service, and effortless attention to detail.

The ideal candidate is warm, polished, organized, and genuinely passionate about hospitality. You will welcome and assist guests, manage dining reservations, coordinate room service orders, and work closely with the restaurant team to ensure every guest feels recognized, valued, and well cared for.

THE HOUSE

The Chanler, reimagined as a magnificent stately manor residence, offers guests a peaceful retreat from the energy of Newport, Rhode Island. The property invites guests to experience its storied architecture, distinctive European-inspired dining, and gracious, personalized hospitality.

Built in 1873 as the summer residence of John Winthrop Chanler, the mansion is rich in history while maintaining the charm and character of an elegant private residence. As a Forbes Five-Star and Two-Key Michelin property, The Chanler welcomes discerning guests from around the world and is dedicated to delivering an experience defined by authenticity, elegance, and natural refinement.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Warmly welcome every guest and create a memorable first impression
• Escort and seat guests efficiently while thoughtfully managing the flow of the dining room
• Manage dining reservations, including taking reservations in person and by phone
• Maintain accurate reservation information and communicate guest needs and special requests to the restaurant team
• Take, coordinate, and deliver room service orders with warmth and attention to detail
• Monitor the guest experience and proactively address needs whenever possible
• Communicate effectively with servers, managers, culinary staff, and other departments
• Assist the dining room team, including serving as a back waiter, when business needs require
• Maintain a professional, polished appearance in accordance with The Chanler's standards and dress code
• Follow all company policies, procedures, and service standards
• Respond positively to direction from management and assist with additional responsibilities as assigned
• Contribute to a welcoming, refined, and seamless environment for every guest

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• Previous restaurant or luxury hospitality experience preferred
• A warm, welcoming, and professional demeanor
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• A genuine passion for creating exceptional guest experiences
• Ability to remain composed, attentive, and gracious during busy service periods
• Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to guest service
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
