HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALIST

Landings Real Estate Group • NEWPORT, RI •

Landings Real Estate Group is a private real estate investment and development company based in Newport, Rhode Island, managing over $450 million in multifamily and lodging assets across the Northeast and Florida. We offer a collegial, entrepreneurial culture that promotes from within and invests in our people.

We're seeking a proactive, detail-oriented HR Specialist to support people operations across our growing, multi-state organization. This role covers the full employee life cycle: you'll own day-to-day payroll and HRIS administration in ADP Workforce Now while also supporting onboarding, benefits, compliance, employee relations, and process improvement. Full life-cycle HR experience is important here — the ideal candidate is as comfortable running an accurate payroll as they are guiding a new hire through their first week, handling an employee relations issue, or answering a benefits question, and brings a proactive, tech-savvy approach to improving how HR gets done.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

Payroll & HRIS

  • Process accurate, timely payroll cycles in ADP Workforce Now, including off-cycle payments and final pay.
  • Maintain employee records, tax withholdings, and direct deposit info in ADP; serve as the internal ADP expert.
  • Administer time and attendance, PTO accruals, and leave tracking.
  • Support employee and manager self-service in ADP, troubleshooting access and navigation issues.
  • Identify opportunities to fully leverage HRIS capabilities, recommending new features, workflows, or automations to improve HR operations.

Full Life-Cycle HR Duties

  • Manage onboarding and offboarding, including offer letters, I-9/E-Verify, and orientation.
  • Administer benefits enrollment and open enrollment; serve as the go-to resource for employee HR questions.
  • Maintain compliance with employment laws (FLSA, ADA, FMLA, EEO) and HR recordkeeping.
  • Support employee relations, documentation, and performance-review cycles.

Reporting & Process Improvement

  • Prepare workforce reports and analytics on turnover, headcount, and employee trends.
  • Identify and implement process improvements using technology and AI tools.
  • Coordinate HR vendors, invoices, and related administration.

Recruiting & Employee Engagement

  • Support recruiting: post roles, coordinate interviews, and communicate with candidates.
  • Assist with employee communications, engagement, and recognition initiatives.
  • Contribute to HR projects and special initiatives as the company grows.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • 3+ years of full life-cycle HR experience — this background is important, as the role spans payroll/HRIS, onboarding, benefits, compliance, and employee relations rather than a single specialty.
  • Minimum 2 years of payroll processing and HRIS experience; ADP Workforce Now experience is preferred, but other HRIS experience would be considered.
  • Working knowledge of employment laws and HR compliance practices.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy, especially with payroll and confidential data.
  • Strong communication skills and comfort learning new systems and technology, including AI tools.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred, but not required.

WHAT YOU GET

  • Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage
  • Company-paid Life, AD&D, and Long-Term Disability Insurance
  • 401(k) with a generous company match
  • Profit sharing
  • Paid Time Off and paid holidays
  • Supplemental Critical Illness Insurance
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Professional development support
