Position Summary

American Appliance Products is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to support the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of manufacturing equipment within our production facility in Newport, Tennessee. This is for a weekend crew working 12 hours shifts Friday - Sunday.

This role is ideal for a hands-on maintenance professional with strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting experience who enjoys working on both aging production equipment and newly installed machinery. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing equipment issues, performing preventive maintenance, repairing components, and helping ensure maximum equipment uptime and reliability.

Experience with hydraulics, electrical systems, welding equipment, and industrial machinery is highly valued.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain manufacturing and production equipment.
  • Perform mechanical repairs on conveyors, motors, gearboxes, bearings, drives, and other industrial equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical issues, including wiring, re-wiring, control components, motors, sensors, relays, contactors, and electrical panels.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
  • Install, modify, and commission new equipment as it is introduced into the facility.
  • Support and maintain aging equipment through repairs, upgrades, and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including pumps, valves, cylinders, and related components.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Identify root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain maintenance records and repair documentation.
  • Work closely with production and engineering teams to improve equipment performance and reliability.
  • Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, and company policies.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
  • Working knowledge of industrial electrical systems, including:
    • Wiring and rewiring equipment
    • Motor controls
    • Electrical troubleshooting
    • Reading electrical schematics
    • Equipment installation and setup
  • Experience troubleshooting hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to diagnose equipment issues and perform repairs independently.
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, and maintenance testing equipment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience maintaining appliance, automotive, metal fabrication, or similar manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience working with welding machines and welding equipment.
  • Experience with MIG, TIG, spot welding, resistance welding, or robotic welding systems.
  • Familiarity with pneumatics and industrial controls.
  • Technical school certification, associate degree, or related maintenance training.
  • Forklift and/or aerial lift experience.
