Adjunct Instructor - Chorus

Sussex County Community College is seeking highly qualified and motivated candidates interested in an adjunct instructor position to teach Chorus on our Newton campus. Applicants must have a Master's degree in Music or a related field. A Bachelor’s degree will be considered if one is currently enrolled in a Master’s Program in the field and/or has extensive experience in the industry.

Adjunct Instructors are responsible for providing high-quality delivery of course content to students in accordance with course competencies and College policies, using a variety of instructional techniques, strategies, and modalities/delivery methods.

 

Position Responsibilities Include:

  • Preparing and providing course instruction and conducting classes in accordance with the philosophy of the college and within the scope of a defined course of study.
  • Assisting students with coursework.
  • Assessing student performance including but not limited to critiquing and evaluating student course work, taking attendance, grading assignments, projects, and exams in a timely fashion, and assisting students in achieving successful outcomes.
  • Adhering to administrative time lines for submission of attendance, grades and other required documents.
  • Ability to teach classes in a face-to-face classroom environment.
  • Ability to use technology and interactive electronic materials to support teaching and learning, including Microsoft Suite programs.
  • Ability to schedule office hours for student appointments.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Music or a related field. 
  • A Bachelor’s degree will be considered if currently enrolled in a Master’s program in a relevant field and/or sufficient experience.
  • Computer/technological and computer aided design skills are required.
  • Two years teaching experience is preferred (especially at the collegiate level). 

 

The Learning Management System (LMS) that we use for is Canvas. Prior knowledge of Canvas or similar learning platform is preferred. Although not a requirement strong technical and computer proficiency is recommended.

Adjunct pay is based on $910 per credit hour.
