Located in Newton, MA, Lasell Village is an Independent Living community where hospitality, connection, and exceptional customer service are at the heart of everything we do. Required Shifts: Monday Lunch shift (11-2:30) Dinner Shift (4:30-8) Wednesday Lunch shift (11-2:30) Dinner shift (4:30 - 8:30) Thursday Lunch shift (11-2:30) Dinner shift (4:30 - 8:30) Friday Lunch shift (11-2:30) Opening Dinner shift (begins at 3pm) Dinner shift (4:30 - 8:30) Flexible availability on Saturdays and Sundays. Our dining services team members are responsible for the following: Serve meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance Serve food in accordance with established portion control procedures Prepare meals-to-go and deliver to apartments in a timely manner Set up dining room/ Café for service Understand the dining room set up and table numbers Be able to answer the phone and use a friendly tone while talking with residents and guests, take reservations, check messages Greet residents and guests with a smile and a friendly tone Walk guests to their assigned tables Operate the POS system to enter customer orders and cash out all guests Work together with other team members to ensure residents are served in a timely manner Set up, stock, refill, and clean stations according to the opening and closing checklists Assist in café serving operations in preparing food items Assist in daily or scheduled cleaning duties, in accordance with established policies and procedures As directed, clean work tables, refrigerators/freezers, and sweep floors Carry out garbage and keep work areas clean, dry, and free of hazards QualificationsSPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma or equivalency (GED) Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. JOB SKILLS Demonstrate excellent listening skills, seeking to understand before responding Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with staff, residents, and visitors Must have a good working knowledge of food safety best practices Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle challenging residents/associates Must be able to communicate with the staff and other department supervisors Must be willing to seek out new methods and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices. Must attend and participate in continuing educational programs Thrive in a team environment and work well with others. ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday; may need to reach overhead, push/pull/lift objects, or ascend/descend stairs Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of fifty (50) pounds. Will be subject to frequent interruptions. May be subject to call-back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.) Is subject to injury from falls, burns, from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the workday, as well as reactions from disinfectants and other air contaminants May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations
