Industrial Maintenance Lubrication Technician

Biewer Sawmill located in Newton, MS is looking to add a full-time Industrial Maintenance Lubrication Technician to our team. The main responsibilities will be to safely perform equipment lubrication, contamination control, inspection and preventative maintenance activities for all lubricated mechanical systems. Summary:

Perform hands-on duties to ensure the reliability and longevity of mechanical systems in our facility by following preventative maintenance schedules to service and lubricate machines and equipment.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Gain fundamental knowledge of machines and equipment to advance to an industrial maintenance role.


Service various types of sawmill equipment by providing daily lubing of machinery in the sawmill, planer and kilns.


Visually inspect machines and report lubrication conditions and deficiencies.


Use tools and equipment for routine and non-routine lubrication functions.


Drain and clean reservoirs. Change filters and breathers on reservoirs.


Maintain proper fluid levels for various compartments including air systems, hydraulic systems, power transmissions, etc.


Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance.


Label and tag reservoirs, equipment, inventory and delivery containers.


Collaborate with maintenance and operations staff to maximize machine center performance and improvements.


Monitor and maintain inventories of oil, grease, filters, etc.


Follow cleaning and storage specifications for each grease/oil product.


Coordinate inventory and routine ordering or products.


Update scheduling systems, including adding notes to system and requesting work orders for maintenance repairs and activities.


Gain critical knowledge of machines and equipment to advance to an industrial maintenance role.



Basic Qualifications:

Language skills to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 


Follow verbal and written instructions.


Ability to speak effectively and professionally to customers or employees of organization.


Mathematic skills with the ability to calculate figures and amounts using addition, subtraction, multiplication, division. 


Reasoning ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.


Good eye/hand coordination and reflexes.


Education, Experience, and Certifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.


General knowledge and experience as a lube technician.


Use hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, impacts, etc.

General lumber knowledge such as board sizing and quality terminology/requirements.

Previous experience operating similar equipment preferred.


Work Environment:

Industrial/manufacturing work setting. 


Able to work at high elevations.


This safety-sensitive position requires employees to comply with all OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and required drug and alcohol testing procedures.



Physical Demands:

Must be able to work in an indoor/outdoor environment


Climb and descend a flight of stairs several times per day


Walk, stand, or kneel for up to 12 hours


Bend and lift up to 50 lbs.



Monday-Friday 5:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., weekend work required
