Job DetailsJob Location: Lasell Village - Auburndale, MA 02466Salary Range: $40.00 - $40.00 HourlyJob Shift: Day POSITION SUMMARY The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) provides physical therapy treatments to residents at Lasell Village to facilitate increased independence and functioning, under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. The PTA works with residents across Independent Living, Lasell Studios (Supportive Living), and Lasell House (Skilled Nursing) to implement individualized treatment plans established by the primary Physical Therapist. RESPONSIBILITIES Treatment implementation Implement a resident's individualized treatment plan as established by the primary Physical Therapist. Provide individualized physical therapy treatments including therapeutic exercise (aerobic capacity conditioning, balance coordination, agility training, body mechanics and postural stabilization, flexibility exercises, gait and locomotion training, neuromotor development training, relaxation, strength, power, and endurance training). Provide functional training, manual therapy, airway clearance techniques, integumentary repair and protection, and use of electrotherapeutic, physical agent, and mechanical modalities. Act as an assistant to the Physical Therapist when the Physical Therapist is performing tests, evaluations, and complex procedures. Instruct residents, families, and other caregivers in the skills and techniques of the physical therapy treatment program under the supervision of the Physical Therapist. Organize and facilitate treatment groups in collaboration with the Physical Therapist. Assist in leading or co-leading community-based wellness classes, group exercise programs, and educational sessions for residents under the direction of the Physical Therapist — including falls prevention, balance groups, and mobility education. Team collaboration Attend and contribute to resident care meetings, team conferences, and other required meetings as a representative of physical therapy, under the direction of the Physical Therapist. Work with other members of the rehabilitation team to implement programs and activities consistent with the needs and capabilities of each resident. Documentation and operations Ensure the effective and efficient delivery of rehabilitation services, including adherence to the established plan of care, department schedule, and resident schedule. Maintain appropriate and timely documentation for all residents treated. Clean, maintain, identify, and report the need for repair of equipment as necessary. Promote a safe environment and support the elimination of fire and safety hazards. Compliance and resident service Comply with applicable legal requirements, standards, and Lasell Village policies and procedures, including those addressing HIPAA and the Federal False Claims Act. Participate in required orientation, training, and quality improvement activities. Promptly report concerns and suspected incidences of non-compliance to a supervisor. Ensure that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere that recognizes individual needs and rights. Perform other related duties as required. SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL AND VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program certified by the American Physical Therapy Association. Licensed and/or eligible for licensure in Massachusetts. JOB SKILLS Good verbal and written communication skills. Good organizational and time management skills. Ability to work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team. Compassionate and resident-centered approach to care. ENVIRONMENTAL AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS Combines clinical work in rehabilitation spaces with care delivered in resident apartments, Lasell Studios (Supportive Living), and Lasell House (Skilled Nursing). May need to reach overhead, handle objects, use finger dexterity, talk, hear, see, and feel. May need to move, transport, or position objects up to 50 pounds (pulling, lifting, carrying, pushing). Frequent standing and walking (typically 67–100% of working time); occasional sitting. May need to ascend and descend stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, twist, and operate foot controls. Subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, and conditions, including tuberculosis, hepatitis, and other communicable conditions consistent with healthcare environments. May be subject to handling and exposure to cleaning agents, disinfectants, and hazardous chemicals. May need to wear protective clothing (gowns, gloves, masks) in accordance with policy. Subject to noise and vibrations, atmospheric conditions (dust, odors, fumes), and use of moving machinery and equipment. Moves intermittently during working hours and is subject to frequent interruptions. Subject to call-back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, post-disaster). Occasional work beyond normal hours, on weekends, or holidays as resident or department needs require. Qualifications
