Job DetailsJob Location: Newton, KS 67114Position Type: Full TimeEducation Level: Graduate DegreeJob Shift: DayJob Category: Nonprofit - Social Services  About the Role Prairie View is seeking a skilled and compassionate Physician Assistant (PA-C) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN — PMHNP or FNP) to join our outpatient clinical team. This role offers a dynamic opportunity to provide high-quality psychiatric medication management alongside primary care consults and medical assessments for adults and older adults across our regional clinics in McPherson, Hillsboro, and Newton. Working collaboratively with supervising psychiatrists and multidisciplinary care teams, you will play a pivotal role in fostering healing, growth, and holistic wellness in the communities we serve. Key Responsibilities Clinical Care & Medication Management Conduct comprehensive outpatient psychiatric evaluations and routine medication checks for adults and older adults. Monitor, manage, and adjust psychotropic medications in accordance with established clinical protocols and outcomes standards. Perform medical consults, assess physical ailments, and provide basic primary care evaluations/recommendations for patients during their mental health treatment. Take primary ownership of the Medication Reconciliation process for all assigned outpatient cases. Order and interpret appropriate laboratory and diagnostic screening tests as clinically indicated. Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) per organizational standards. Collaboration & Quality Standards Collaborate closely with supervising psychiatrists, therapists, case managers, and interdisciplinary care teams. Serve as a internal medical consultant to Prairie View clinicians and clinical staff. Maintain active communication with patient families and support systems, as appropriate. Ensure clinical practices align with CMS, The Joint Commission, and internal compliance and quality standards. Participate in efficient resource utilization and continuous Performance Improvement initiatives. Optional: Participate in weekday or weekend call coverage as mutually agreed upon. Qualifications Minimum Education:  Bachelor of Science Physician Assistant degree; must have and maintain a PA category license from Kansas State Board of Healing Arts Minimum Experience:  Must have experience working with adults, older adults, children / adolescents for the purpose of doing clinical assessments, psychopharmacologic prescribing by protocol Must be competent in observing, interviewing, and assessing patients in order to formulate a diagnosis using current DSM criteria Must possess basic psychotherapeutic skills to establish patient/clinician relationships Must have sufficient psychopharmacologic knowledge to effectively manage psychiatric illness Must be competent in recognizing side effects, adverse drug reactions, and drug-drug interactions, especially as it pertains to psychotropic medications Must have a desire to work within the Prairie View multi-disciplinary team structure Must have good listening skills, verbal skills, and written communication skills to effectively interact with patients, staff, and multidisciplinary treatment team members Must have working knowledge of the principles of managed care Must possess basic computer skills to utilize email and to navigate the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Must be willing and able to provide psychiatry support to providers in the community e.g., aging agencies, external care providers, and schools if / when needed. Experience with physical assessments of adults and geriatrics preferred. Must be able to pass Kansas Bureau of Investigation Screen and the Central Registry Screen for both adults and children Must maintain current CPR certification
