As a Sr. Software DevOps Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in accelerating our software development lifecycle, software build process, enhancing our cloud infrastructure, and ensuring the highest level of security and compliance in our deployment processes. YourĀ expertiseĀ will bridge the gap between complex medical software development and scalable, robust cloud solutions, driving efficiency and reliability across all our engineering operations.Ā

The ideal candidate has extensive experience in various build systems, includingĀ CMake, ROS/Catkin, and/or Bazel, enabling them to support and enhance complex development ecosystems effectively. They should also be well-versed in designing, implementing, and managing DevOps practices within the healthcare, medical device, or robotics software industry. This includes deep familiarity with AWS cloud services,Ā proficiencyĀ in programming languages such as Python and C++, and a provenĀ track recordĀ of architecting, implementing, andĀ optimizingĀ scalable CI/CD pipelines for complex software applications. They should haveĀ an in-depth knowledge and experience with Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration, along withĀ proficiencyĀ inĀ JFrogĀ Artifactory for artifact management. Experience in building monitoring dashboards and pipelines using Grafana or similar systems is crucial for ensuring operational visibility and performance optimization.Ā

Primary ResponsibilitiesĀ 

  • Maintain and improve the build system and developer tools to streamline development processes and enhance efficiencyĀ 

  • DemonstrateĀ expertiseĀ in various build systems, includingĀ CMake, ROS/Catkin, and Bazel, to support diverse project needsĀ 

  • Work on automation across all stages of software deployment and infrastructure management to improve efficiency and reduce manual overheadĀ 

  • Establish andĀ maintainĀ monitoring and logging systems to proactively address performance issues and ensure system healthĀ 

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in the development, test, and production environments, ensuring high availability and performanceĀ 

  • Collaborate with teams to integrate DevOps practices into the development lifecycle of Python, C++, and QT applicationsĀ 

  • Implement, manage, andĀ monitorĀ CI/CD pipelines for native applications and cloud services, ensuring fast and reliable deploymentĀ 

  • Set up andĀ maintainĀ the CI/CD infrastructure and build agents within a Bitbucket/Bamboo environment, ensuring seamless integration and automation across software development and deployment processesĀ 

  • Document DevOps processes, tools, and configurations toĀ maintainĀ a clear understanding among teams and toĀ facilitateĀ onboarding of new team membersĀ 

  • Contribute to disaster recovery planning, risk management, and data protection, in compliance medical software regulationsĀ 

  • Stay abreast ofĀ new technologiesĀ and trends in the DevOps and cloud space, particularly those relevant to the medical device and healthcare sectorsĀ

  • Extensive experience using build systems to enhance the deployment of software on various platforms using tools such asĀ CMake, Bazel, and othersĀ 

  • Extensive experience with building monitoring dashboards using tools such as GrafanaĀ 

  • Proficient in languages such as Python, C++, Bash, or similarĀ 

  • Extensive experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Chef, Puppet)Ā 

  • ExpertiseĀ in AWS services and infrastructure, including EC2, S3, VPC, Lambda, CDK and CloudFormationĀ 

  • Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)Ā 

  • Solid understanding of network protocols and servicesĀ 

  • Familiarity with compliance standards and security frameworks relevant to the medical device software industry (e.g., HIPAA, FDA regulations)Ā 

  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing challenges and finding solutionsĀ 

  • Strong communicationĀ and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.Ā 

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on DevOps best practices, cloud architecture, and security, providing guidance and mentorship to junior team membersĀ

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rateĀ complies withĀ federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location.
