Our Core Values are – Be Proactive, Be a Team Player, Take Ownership & Do the Right Thing Summary of Position The Assistant Controller partners closely with the CFO to lead the daily operations of the accounting function, ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, and drive continuous improvement across financial processes and systems. This role requires strong technical accounting expertise, leadership capability, and a proactive mindset. The Assistant Controller will oversee general ledger integrity, support audit activities, and act as a change agent to enhance team performance and operational efficiency in alignment with Telaid’s strategic goals. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Financial Reporting & Analysis Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger to support timely financial close and reporting. Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Lead variance analysis against budget and forecast; provide actionable insights and recommendations. Support the preparation and coordination of the company’s audited financial statements. Leadership & Team Oversee day-to-day operations of the Finance Department. Supervise Accounts Payable staff and ensure efficient workflow and performance. Conduct Quarterly Development Conversations (QDCs) and actively support employee growth and development. Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration. Accounts Receivable & Accounts Payable Approve large-dollar customer credits. Review construction accounting documentation, including AIA billings and lien releases. Ensure accounts payable is processed accurately and paid in a timely manner. Maximize available vendor discounts and maintain strong cash management practices. Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal tax obligations. General Accounting Maintain fixed asset and lease accounting schedules. Manage lease setup, renewals, and terminations. Prepare and file multiple annual property tax returns. Ensure timely completion of bank and account reconciliations. Internal Controls & Compliance Maintain and enhance documented accounting policies and procedures. Ensure effective internal controls over financial transactions and reporting. Support and oversee sales tax audits and other compliance-related activities. Process Improvement & Strategic Support Identify and implement process and system improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Support budgeting and forecasting processes. Serve as a key financial partner to the CFO, delivering timely and accurate financial insights. Collaborate cross-functionally with project and operational teams to align financial reporting with business performance. Participate in special projects and strategic initiatives as needed QualificationsSkills and Personal Attributes Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and professionalism. Proven experience producing financial statements and supporting audit processes. Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements and implement scalable solutions. Strong alignment with Telaid’s core values and culture. Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. 5–7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including general ledger and AP/AR management. CPA or CMA designation strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and audit processes. Experience with construction accounting and AIA billing is a plus. Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools preferred.
