Forklift Operators are essential in keeping production consistently moving forward. Forklift Operators in Extrusions will work closely with a team of drivers to ensure all duties and responsibilities are performed. BRT is a growing aluminum extrusions company, and as we grow, our employees will grow as well. Essential duties of the Extrusions Forklift Operator • Discuss with previous, current, and following shift of production goals and duties for the shift • Communicate with Press Supervisors and Saw Operators throughout shift and help with any driving needs • Keep empty and full racks of extrusions organized in staging areas • Ensure employees in Extrusions have enough empty racks, spacers, and cardboard to keep production going • Transport aluminum logs to Extrusion presses and ensure the safe and proper placement onto log tables • Transport racks of scrap to Extrusion presses from other departments • Remove full scrap hoppers from presses and dump into designated trailers, also close trailers when full • Load and unload age ovens as required throughout the shift • Bring non-conforming material to disposition area when a red HOLD tag is seen or upon request • Dump hoppers of trash from extrusions if needed • Communicate with team of operators by radio • May communicate and direct the Tug Operator on production needs • Stage racks, logs, and press necessities before shift change • Move product/materials manually as required • May be asked to work as a Utility worker and perform all duties and responsibilities Requirements of the Extrusions Forklift Operator • Complete the Power Industrial Truck Inspection Sheet before driving for the shift • Log into Forklift Monitor (if equipped) and perform all safety checks as required • Operate Forklift safely and follow all safety precautions and procedures • Blow out radiator with air gun for preventive maintenance on Forklift • Must obtain Power Industrial Truck training/certification through BRT • Must be recertified in the driving certification every 3 years through BRT • Able to read and understand production tickets. • Must have strong communication skills and listen to instructions throughout shift. • Must be able to drive at a consistent pace to keep production moving. • Have knowledge of locations in the building and staging areas. • Report any unsafe issues/accidents on Forklift that need addressed to Supervisor/Manager/Forklift Maintenance and follow all Company incident/accident reporting procedures. • Must maintain good attendance • Must be willing to participate in all required job and or employment related trainings. This includes but is not limited to all safety and technical or role or tool specific trainings. Physical requirements of the Extrusions Forklift Operator: This position requires the individual to work in a factory/manufacturing environment. The temperatures can fluctuate from hot to cold and noise level is high. An individual in this role will be able to walk, bend, stoop, twist, turn and climb and push frequently. With proper safety equipment, an individual in this role may work above ground level (off the ground) for long periods of time. An individual in this role will need to be always aware of movement and/or noises around them. An individual in this role must move 25lbs frequently and up to 50lbs occasionally. And individual in this role will remain stationary for as much as approximately 75% of the time. An individual in this role will be an effective communicator verbally and in writing, and this role requires individuals to read and follow written procedures in English.
