Position Profile
This position is responsible to pick up and deliver general and special freight in liquid, solid, loose, or packaged form.Â
Essential DutiesÂ
Operate safely and in compliance with all established HSSE policies and proceduresÂ
Conducts thorough pre-trip, mid-trip and post-trip inspections on vehicles being operated, in accordance with established company policies and procedures, reporting discrepancies immediatelyÂ
Load/unload trucks and containers, lift materials, and identify, label, count, receive, and issue freightÂ
Ensure that cargo is secured for transport in accordance with all applicable local, state, and federal lawsÂ
Operates a box truck in order to pick up and deliver customer freight in a variety of locations.Â
Will process documents for pick-up and give information to dispatcherÂ
Pack and/or ship materials in compliance with DOT and hazardous materials regulationsÂ
Maintain good housekeeping standards with focus on the care and custody of materialsÂ
Prioritize and complete day-to-day activities as assignedÂ
Maintain contact with terminal dispatcher to receive instructionsÂ
Maintain driver e-logs and e-maintenance logs according to State and Federal regulationsÂ
May be required to perform emergency roadside repairs such as changing tires, light bulbs, and tire chainsÂ
May be required to down stack and inside delivery, with white glove service, at customer locationÂ
All other duties as assignedÂ
QualificationsÂ
21 years of ageÂ
High school diploma, or GED equivalentÂ
CDL Class B requiredÂ
Hazmat certification within 90 days of hire & maintain hazmat certification, requiredÂ
One to two years driving experience, preferred Â
 Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesÂ
Excellent written, verbal and listening communication skillsÂ
Follows instructions, responds to management direction, takes responsibility for own actions, completes tasks on time or communicates alternate plansÂ
Treats people with respect; keeps commitments, inspires the trust of others, works with integrity and ethically, upholds organizational valuesÂ
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and accuracyÂ
Must be customer focused and represent Carlile in a professional and friendly mannerÂ
Should have a mechanical aptitudeÂ
Must be able to prioritize daily tasks and assignmentsÂ
Must be able to multitask and have excellent time management skillsÂ
Must be able to drive in adverse weather conditions and in ice and snow, with the ability to chain-upÂ
Experience with lift gates, forklifts, and pallet jacks, preferredÂ
Previous material handling and HAZMAT experienceÂ
Must become forklift certifiedÂ
Ability to read a map to determine best routeÂ

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside weather conditions (extreme cold and inclement conditions – snow, ice, rain, wind, etc.). The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vehicle vibration. The employee will also be exposed to high density road traffic as well as inter-city traffic. Â
