Working as part of a joint venture with BWXT to form BWSR, Engineers report to the Engineering Manager in support of the Decontamination and Decommissioning (D&D) efforts at the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory Kesselring Site in West Milton, New York. The Electrical Engineer of Radiological Work (ERW) works closely with Operations, Radiological Controls, and EH&S personnel to develop detailed work procedures and facility deactivation plans to support site wide Radiological D&D work activities. ERWs are provided training and must maintain qualifications to strict Program standards that regulate the conduct of this work. ERWs are responsible for assessing conditions associated with work assignments and determining the most efficient method of performing work that satisfies all Program and local requirements.
Participating in work scoping to understand site conditions, work to be performed, and end stateÂ
Participating in developing project schedulesÂ
Developing technical specifications for subcontracted workÂ
Developing facility characterization plansÂ
Overseeing and examining production/subcontractor workÂ
Must be aware of federal, state and local safety laws to ensure the organization complies with all current safety regulations.Â
Developing Project Closeout and Release Reports
Minimum 5 years of experience in Nuclear, Construction, Demolition or Remediation fieldsÂ
US Citizenship is required: no dual citizenshipÂ
Written and verbal communication skills Adaptation to culture focusing on Safety and HealthÂ
Prior Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program experience is preferred but not requiredÂ
Radiological, environmental and electrical engineering experience is preferredÂ
Autocad Inventor experience is preferredÂ
Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Level L Security ClearanceÂ
Ability to obtain and maintain radiological qualifications

What you can expect from APTIM:
If hired after the internship: As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay range for this position is $102,000 - $130,000 Per Year. Compensation depends on several factors including: experience, education, key skills, geographic location of the position, client requirements, external market competitiveness, and internal equity among other employees within APTIM.
