We are looking for aĀ SeniorĀ Embedded Firmware EngineerĀ who will contribute to the success of theĀ R&DĀ Team, applying theirĀ expertiseĀ inĀ firmware engineeringĀ to support the achievement of team and company goals and deliver innovative, reliable solutions.Ā Ā In this role, the successful candidate will collaborate effectively with colleagues and cross-functional teams,Ā demonstrateĀ strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, andĀ maintainĀ a commitment to professional excellence,Ā qualityĀ and continuous improvement.Ā

The RoleĀ 

As aĀ SeniorĀ Embedded Firmware Engineer, you will be a key contributorĀ onĀ an Agile R&D team, developing high-quality embedded firmware for Particle MeasuringĀ Systems’ instruments and platforms. You will work across hardware interfaces, communications, GUIs, and particle counting functionality, writing reusable, maintainable code and supporting the full development lifecycle from design through validation. In this role, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional partners, apply modern tools and technologies to solve complex problems, and help continuously improve our firmware development environment, processes, and product quality.Ā 

Job ResponsibilitiesĀ 

  • Participate in an Agile Scrum team, completing firmware work items in areas including communications interfaces, GUI interfaces and particle counting code.Ā Ā 

  • Develop requirements, design, and engineering reference documentation.Ā Ā 

  • SupportĀ the management ofĀ complexĀ user stories in the backlog; interfacing with the team to understand technical needs andĀ appropriate resolutionsĀ of itemsĀ Ā 

  • Architect reusable solutions using object-oriented design in C++Ā Ā 

  • Bring knowledge of new tools and technologies and use that knowledge to design innovative solutions.Ā Ā 

  • Interface across multiple portions of the organization to support engineering, marketing,Ā manufacturingĀ and service needs asĀ required.Ā 

  • Continuously evaluate processes for improvements in efficiency, quality, and safety.Ā

Required QualificationsĀ 

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer ScienceĀ 

  • Five or more years of embedded firmware development experienceĀ 

  • Two or moreĀ years experienceĀ as a technical leadĀ 

  • Experience with Agile Scrum or other AgileĀ methodologyĀ 

  • Experience authoring requirementsĀ 

  • Strong background in C++ or Rust programming languageĀ 

  • Object-oriented design skillsĀ 

  • Development experience with Embedded Linux at Application levelĀ 

  • ExpertiseĀ with software version control and bug tracking systemsĀ 

  • Ability to read and understand schematic diagramsĀ 

  • Excellent communication skillsĀ

Preferred QualificationsĀ 

  • Experience working in an Agile environmentĀ 

  • YoctoĀ build experience and/or Linux Kernel and driver developmentĀ 

  • ExpertiseĀ in Git, Jira,Ā DevSuite, Jama, or similarĀ 

  • Experience with QT or similar GUI frameworkĀ 

  • ARM-based SoC firmware designĀ 

  • Experience with TCP/IP,Ā WiFiĀ and Bluetooth protocol developmentĀ 

  • Experience in cyber security  

  • AI and ML algorithm selection and application

Work Environment & Physical RequirementsĀ 

  • This role primarilyĀ operatesĀ in an office/lab/manufacturing environment.Ā

  • Competitive base salary range: $110,000 - $158,000Ā
