TITLE: Lead Power Electronics Mechanical Engineer

DUTIES: We seek a Lead Power Electronics Mechanical Engineer based out of our office at 2151 E. Lincoln Road, Kokomo, IN 46902. Note, this is a hybrid position whereby the employee will work both from home and from the aforementioned office address. Hence, the employee must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the aforementioned office address. Note, this position does not require travel.

Lead and support the mechanical design of hybrid / electric inverter and converter systems for various global automotive customers. Train and mentor new engineers within the Mechanical Engineering team, provide technical guidance to team members as needed, and participate as a valuable member of the overall multidisciplinary project team. Design mechanical components in compliance with the BorgWarner Bill of Design and Platform initiatives. Design products and components to meet customer specifications. Perform mechanical analysis and verification testing, including: thermal management, vibration capability, thermal shock, and tolerance stack-up. Support the creation of drawings to document the design. Develop and interface with the supply base in support of program needs and purchasing initiatives. Interface with internal and external customers as needed. Provide written and oral presentations as required. Follow a structured problem-solving approach to resolve issues.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field and 96 months of experience in the job offered or related position in mechanical power electronics hardware design.

Experience must include:

Experience with casting, stamping, and injection molding processes;

Experience with automotive environmental and durability requirements;

Experience with NX or comparable CAD applications;

Experience performing FEA simulations using ANSYS or a comparable analysis tool;

Experience with problem-solving and technical debugging
