Description
 Vertis Therapy, a therapist-owned healthcare organization, is seeking an experienced Director of Compliance Physical Therapy Assistant or Occupational Therapy Assistant to oversee regulatory, legal, and ethical compliance across all therapy operations. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state, and payer requirements related to physical, occupational, and speech therapy services while supporting a culture of integrity, accountability, and high-quality patient care.
This is a hybrid position with a combination of remote work and on-site responsibilities at the corporate office in Noblesville, IN two to three days per week. Â
- Oversee healthcare compliance programs and regulatory adherenceÂ
- Ensure compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, state, and payer guidelinesÂ
- Support policy development, auditing, documentation review, and risk management initiativesÂ
- Collaborate with leadership on compliance, operational, and HR-related functionsÂ
- Utilize strong technical skills to support compliance systems, reporting, and operational processesÂ
- Perform administrative duties related to compliance oversight and daily operationsÂ
- Provide guidance and education to staff regarding compliance standards and best practicesÂ
Qualifications
- Active Indiana license as a PT, OT, PTA, or OTA preferred, or equivalent healthcare compliance experienceÂ
- Experience with healthcare compliance, regulatory standards, and auditing processesÂ
- Strong organizational, technical, administrative, and communication skillsÂ
- Knowledge of HR practices and healthcare operations preferredÂ

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive compliance program aligned with healthcare regulations and industry standardsÂ
- Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable laws and guidelines, including Medicare, Medicaid, HIPAA, and state-specific therapy practice actsÂ
- Conduct regular internal audits, risk assessments, and compliance reviews across clinical and operational functionsÂ
- Lead investigations into compliance concerns and implement corrective action plans as neededÂ
- Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies and external auditorsÂ
- Develop and deliver ongoing compliance training and education for staff and leadershipÂ
- Establish and maintain policies and procedures that support ethical and compliant business practicesÂ
- Oversee documentation standards, billing practices, and coding accuracy to minimize risk and ensure proper reimbursementÂ
- Track, analyze, and report compliance metrics and trends to executive leadershipÂ
- Stay current on changes in healthcare regulations and proactively update company practicesÂ

Work Environment:
This position is hybrid remote and in a corporate office setting, along with occasional travel to therapy locations as needed.
Requirements
 Qualifications (Required):
- Active, unrestricted therapy license is REQUIRED: Physical Therapist (PT), Occupational Therapist (OT), Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP), Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA), or Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) — candidates without a clinical therapy license will not be consideredÂ
- Minimum of 5+ years of clinical and/or compliance experience within therapy services, including strong exposure to Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNF), Assisted Living (ALF), and/or hospital-based therapy programsÂ
- Demonstrated knowledge of post-acute care regulations, including PDPM, Medicare Part A & B, and therapy service delivery models across multiple settingsÂ
- Working knowledge of hospital-based compliance standards, including acute care documentation expectations, interdisciplinary coordination, and regulatory requirementsÂ
- Strong knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid regulations, HIPAA, and therapy billing/coding practicesÂ
- Experience with audits, investigations, and regulatory reporting across multi-site or multi-state organizations preferredÂ
- Certification in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) preferredÂ
