Job Description: Applications Engineer - Post Sales  

SUMMARY

As an Applications Engineer with Havtech you will provide technical and engineering design support for our sales team and clients in both the acquisition and fulfillment stages of commercial HVAC equipment projects. This position provides specialized support directly to Sales Engineer(s) and their developing, designing and  secured projects. This position requires a unique combination of customer service skills to influence the design and purchase of commercial HVAC systems, problem solving skills to ensure accurate equipment delivery and drive to accomplish other specific objectives in each time frame with limited resources. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other functions may be assigned.

  • Provides support to assigned Sales Engineer(s), and associated consulting engineers, contractors or technical buyers for system and product information, design and pricing during the design and fulfillment stages.
  • Responsible for timely completion of projects and maintaining owner, engineer, and contractor satisfaction.
  • Stays current with material costs to address escalation during budgeting of long-term projects.
  • Develops preliminary and/or final submittals as required for timely production release and delivery of equipment.
  • Develops relationships with represented manufacturers, maintains competitive advantage and stays abreast of industry trends.
  • Communicates with subcontractors and suppliers by obtaining/negotiating prices with vendors for materials and evaluates vendor submittals.
  • Documents work by maintaining files for each job including, but not limited to, internal and external correspondence to mitigate project risk.
  • Responsible for holding job meetings such as cost reviews and submittal pre-release meetings.
  • Coordinates service and technical support during start-up and throughout the warranty period.
  • Successfully handles a large and diverse number of projects and issues with tact, cooperation, and persistence. Meets deadlines effectively for assigned tasks.
  • Coordinates and communicates successfully in small team environment of 2-4.
  • Flexibility to work outside normal work hours, as required

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS include the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Construction, or other related areas.
  • Three (3) to Five (5) years of experience in the HVAC industry performing project management or estimating roles preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and work experience. 
  • Familiarity with commercial HVAC systems and Design preferred.
  • Must have basic PC experience in Windows environment, working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), Web-enabled applications and intermediate level experience with Excel. 
  • Must possess excellent math aptitude, superior follow-up skills and ability to work under pressure. 
  • Professional and collaborative attitude readily volunteers to assist and coordinate with team members and other departments.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and time management skills are required.
