Armed Security Guard

Location: Hampton Roads, Virignia 

Sentry Force Security is actively hiring Virginia DCJS Armed Security Officers for multiple long-term assignments throughout the Hampton Roads region. These positions support a variety of public-facing facilities and critical infrastructure locations, offering stable schedules, professional work environments, and opportunities for advancement.

Compensation & Benefits

• $18-20 per hour (based on assignment and experience)
• Bi-Weekly pay
• Full-time and part-time positions available

Schedule

• Day Shift
• Evening Shift
• Night Shift
• Overnight Shift
• Weekends Available
• Holidays as Needed
• 8, 10, and 12-Hour Shifts Available

Essential Responsibilities

• Maintain a highly visible security presence to deter criminal activity.
• Conduct interior and exterior foot patrols.
• Monitor buildings, grounds, parking areas, and surrounding property.
• Control facility access by verifying identification and visitor credentials.
• Observe and report suspicious activity.
• Respond to alarms, disturbances, medical emergencies, and other incidents.
• Prepare detailed daily activity logs and incident reports.
• Enforce site policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
• Provide outstanding customer service while maintaining a professional demeanor.

Minimum Qualifications

• Active Virginia DCJS Armed Security Officer Registration
• Valid Virginia driver's license with reliable transportation
• High school diploma or GED
• Ability to pass a comprehensive background investigation
• Ability to pass a drug screening
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to remain calm under pressure
• Strong report-writing abilities
• Professional appearance and reliable attendance

Preferred Qualifications

• Military, law enforcement, corrections, or prior armed security experience
• CPR/First Aid certification (preferred but not required)
• Experience working in public-facing or high-traffic environments
• Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays

Physical Requirements

• Stand and walk for extended periods
• Perform routine foot patrols indoors and outdoors
• Work in various weather conditions
• Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
• Quickly respond to emergencies when necessary
