Overview

The Department of Ophthalmology at Eastern Virginia Medical School is seeking applicants for a tenure-eligible faculty position specializing in Cornea and External Disease.  Interest in cataract and comprehensive ophthalmology would be beneficial.  The greater Norfolk area has a large and diverse patient population, which enriches the clinical, educational, and research opportunities for the faculty.

 

Responsibilities

The physician will provide care to patients in an office/hospital setting

Participate in education evaluation and career development of students, residents, fellows and staff.

Participate in academic/clinical/research activities as needed

Supervise staff under faculty supervision.

Participate in administrative, department policy and procedure development.

Participate in committees as assigned.

Communication skills to present teaching materials

Counseling of students for academic performance, life skills and professionalism

Provide administrative and supervisory support to educational, clinical, research mission.

Qualifications

Candidates must have a MD and be American Board of Ophthalmology certified or board eligible, and fellowship training in cornea is required.  The faculty candidate must be committed to a career in academic medicine and must be interested in combining clinical practice with resident education and research.  Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience.
