Overview

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences at Old Dominion University, within Eastern Virginia Medical Group (EVMG), is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) physician to join our academic faculty. This position offers the opportunity to practice in a high-acuity, multidisciplinary setting while also contributing to the teaching and research missions of a leading academic medical center.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Nursing, office staff, administration in patient care
  • Collaborate with peers, faculty and support staff
  • Participate in academic/clinical/research activities as needed
  • Provide administrative and supervisory support to educational, clinical, research mission.
  • Participate in committees as assigned.
  • Communication skills to present teaching materials
  • Participate in education evaluation and career development of students, residents, fellows and staff.
  • Provide physician care to patients in office/hospital setting.
  • Supervise staff under faculty supervision.

Qualifications

Requirements: 

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Obstetrics & Gynecology residency program.
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Obstetrics & Gynecology.
  • Active state medical license (or eligibility for licensure).
  • Current BLS and ACLS; NRP and other certifications as required by the institution.

Preferred Experience or Attributes:

  • Strong clinical decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to patient-centered, culturally sensitive care.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records.
