Summary:

The Ponca Tribe of Nebraska is a federally recognized Tribe with its ancestral homeland located in Niobrara, NE. The Tribe does not have a reservation in the classic definition; rather, the Ponca Restoration Act defined its jurisdiction as a ‘Service Delivery Area’ comprised of 15 counties throughout parts of Nebraska, Iowa, and South Dakota. Within its Service Delivery Area, the Tribe offers a broad range of health, social, educational, and cultural services. 


Responsible for assisting Chiropractor in the examination and treatment of patients, in a manner that promotes quality patient care.

 

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Greet and check in patients.
  2. Prepare treatment rooms and equipment.
  3. Assist patients before and after chiropractic treatments.
  4. Escort patients to examination or treatment areas.
  5. Educate patients on prescribed exercises, stretches, and wellness programs as directed by the chiropractor.
  6. Monitor patient comfort and report concerns to the chiropractor.
  7. Schedule appointments and manage calendars.
  8. Answer phone calls, emails, and patient inquiries.
  9. Maintain patient records and update medical information.
  10. Verify insurance information and process billing paperwork.
  11. Collect payments and maintain financial records.
  12. Ensure compliance with privacy and healthcare regulations.
  13. Other duties as assigned.
  14. Clean and sanitize treatment areas and equipment.
  15. Manage inventory and order office supplies.
  16. Assist with marketing activities, patient outreach, and retention programs.
  17. Maintain a professional and welcoming clinic environment.


Relationships and Authority:

This position has no supervisory duties. 

Working Environment and Physical Demands:

Physical requirements include carrying/lifting up to 5 pounds, frequently; up to 25 pounds, regularly; and up to 50 pounds, occasionally. Visual acuity, speech and hearing; hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to drive an automobile and operate computer keyboard and basic office equipment; subject to carrying, lifting, twisting and reaching to perform essential job functions. Working conditions are primarily in an office environment with occasional travel to other locations. At times staff may be required to work with patients/clients who are in crisis and demonstrate empathy, understanding, respect, and advocacy while remaining calm in stressful situations

Qualifications:

Minimum:

  1. High School Diploma or GED
  2. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  3. One-year experience in a medical office, chiropractic clinic, or customer service role.
  4. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and EHR programs.
  5. Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
  6. Able to obtain BLS/CPR certification within three months of hire date, if not already certified.
  7. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  8. Valid driver’s license and be insurable.
  9. Successfully pass drug and alcohol testing, motor vehicle, education, character, and criminal background checks.
  10. Able and willing to travel.

 

Preferred:

  1. Certified Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant, or other clinical training.
  2. Associates degree. 
  3. Knowledge and understanding of Public Law 93-638: Indian Self-Determination Act. 
  4. One-year experience working with Native Americans or Native American organization


Preference will be given to Ponca Tribe of Nebraska members or members of a federally recognized tribe. However, all qualified individuals are eligible.
