Summary:

The Ponca Tribe of Nebraska is a federally recognized Tribe with its ancestral homeland located in Niobrara, NE. The Tribe does not have a reservation in the classic definition; rather, the Ponca Restoration Act defined its jurisdiction as a ‘Service Delivery Area’ comprised of 15 counties throughout parts of Nebraska, Iowa, and South Dakota. Within its Service Delivery Area, the Tribe offers a broad range of health, social, educational, and cultural services. 


The Chiropractor is responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating patients with musculoskeletal and neuromuscular conditions, with a primary focus on disorders of the spine, joints, and related structures. The Chiropractor will provide evidence-based chiropractic care, develop individualized treatment plans, and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to improve patient outcomes and overall wellness.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Perform comprehensive patient evaluations, including medical history reviews, physical examinations, and diagnostic assessments within the EHR system.
  2. Diagnose musculoskeletal conditions and develop individualized treatment plans.
  3. Provide chiropractic adjustments and manual therapies to improve function, reduce pain, and promote healing.
  4. Educate patients on injury prevention, posture, ergonomics, exercise, nutrition, and healthy lifestyle practices.
  5. Maintain accurate and timely patient records in accordance with organizational, state, and federal requirements.
  6. Order and interpret diagnostic imaging and other tests as appropriate within the scope of practice.
  7. Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, nursing, and other healthcare team members to coordinate patient care.
  8. Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as needed to achieve desired outcomes.
  9. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and organizational meetings.
  10. Support community outreach and wellness programs as requested.
  11. Understanding of open access schedules for patients to receive care in a timely manner.
  12. Monitor clinic overall productivity of the department for overall PHS outcomes.
  13. Other duties as assigned.

Relationships and Authority:

This position oversees Chiropractor Assistant.

Working Environment and Physical Demands:

Physical requirements include carrying/lifting up to 5 pounds, frequently; up to 25 pounds, regularly; 100 pounds or more, occasionally. Visual acuity, speech and hearing; hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to drive an automobile and operate computer keyboard and basic office equipment; subject to carrying, lifting, twisting and reaching to perform essential job functions. Working conditions are primarily in an office environment with occasional travel to other locations. At times staff may be required to work with patients/clients who are in crisis and demonstrate empathy, understanding, respect, and advocacy while remaining calm in stressful situations

Qualifications:

Minimum:

  1. Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) degree from an accredited chiropractic college.
  2. Current and unrestricted state licensure to practice chiropractic medicine.
  3. Current CPR/BLS certification required or obtain within 90-days of employment.
  4. Strong clinical assessment and patient management skills.
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  6. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
  7. Computer proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and EHR programs.
  8. Valid driver’s license and be insurable.
  9. Successfully pass drug and alcohol testing, motor vehicle, education, character, and criminal background checks.
  10. Able and willing to travel.


Preferred:

  1. Experience practicing in a rural healthcare setting.
  2. Certification in additional treatment modalities such as acupuncture, rehabilitation, or sports medicine.
  3. Experience working/member with Native Americans or Native American organizations. 
  4. Knowledge and understanding of Public Law 93-638: Indian Self-Determination Act.


Preference will be given to Ponca Tribe of Nebraska members or members of a federally recognized tribe. However, all qualified individuals are eligible.
