Overview

Are you self-motivated individual who is knowledgeable about constructability and construction practices? As a Civil3D Drafter, you will prepare layout drawings and schematic diagrams of projects from the direction of the Project Survey Manager. Your role will be crucial in transforming project concepts into executable plans, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.  

 

The Hampton Roads Connector Partners JV (HRCP) consisting of Flatiron, Dragados USA and VINCI has been selected to construct the $3.3BN Design Build project –the largest civil construction contract ever awarded by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT). 

 

The project scope across a 9 mile section of the I-64 will include: a new 3.5-mile bridge-tunnel crossing that will accommodate a total of 8 lanes of capacity across the water, replacement of the existing marine approach bridges and the addition of a third lane on I-64 in each direction. The twin 45’ diameter 1.5-mile tunnels will be bored by TBM, creating the second largest TBM tunnel opening for a TBM in North America

What you will be doing

  • Prepares layout drawings of tolerances, dimensions, materials and technical project data based on Construction Engineer guidance and design specifications.  
  • Calculates quantities and dimensions within procedural and standard practice limitations.  
  • Analyzes sketches, notes, and other input materials to determine best approach to complete drawings using Company approved software and programs. 
  • Develops detailed drawings to accurately and completely describe construction design intent and critical elements.  
  • Evaluates layout drawings to ensure drawings comply with engineering requirements, Company standards and project contract specifications.   

What we are looking for

  • Technical degree or Associate’s degree in Engineering, Design or related technical field required 
  • Experience in heavy civil construction engineering preferred 
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Microstation and other 3D rendering software required.  
  • Knowledge of architectural and mechanical drafting tools required.  
  • Knowledge and understanding of constructability and construction practices.  
  • Self-motivated and able to self-prioritize within management guidelines.  
  • Verbal, written and technical communication skills required.
