JOB DESCRIPTION

Home Delivered Meals Coordinator


GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK

Performs responsible support work coordinating home delivered meals (HDM), compiles complex statistical reports for meal services and responsible for volunteer recruitment, engagement, training, and recognition for all wellness programs. Work is performed under general supervision, reporting to the Wellness Manager.  

TYPICAL TASKS

  • Coordinates with the In-Home Services (IHS) department the provision of home delivered meals services to seniors who are homebound. 
  • Provides HDM program data to CEO, CFO, Director of Marketing, Grant Administrator and Administrative Wellness Manager to support budget, grants and other special projects.
  • Oversees the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP). 
  • Maintains continuous contact with IHS regarding client updates and changes. 
  • Receives and reviews home delivered meals requests from HIS to be sent to appropriate vendor.
  • Generates and distributes health and nutrition education information to meal vendors, program participants and wellness staff. 
  • Ensures that meal vendors are monitored annually according to the state's nutrition program service guidelines.
  • Conducts customer satisfaction and participant interest surveys annually.
  • Responsible for maintenance of program participant’s files utilizing Peer Place database.
  • Communicates with program participants on status of services and service delivery.
  • Generates monthly home delivered meals reports utilizing Peer Place database. 
  • Maintains regular contact with meal vendors regarding any changes with meal counts and participant's prescribed dietary needs. 
  • Responsible for assisting with all aspects of the recruitment process for volunteer positions as it relates to Home delivered Meals, including attending community volunteer recruitment events.
  • Coaches and trains volunteers to ensure a smooth transition into their role, as it relates to HDM.
  • Active member of the agency wide volunteer recognition event committee
  • Recognizes wellness program volunteers on an ongoing basis.
  • Attends volunteer engagement unit meetings and training sessions
  • Actively ensures that all agency and program guidelines are met
  • Communicates frequently with volunteers to ensure they are satisfied and well-placed, as it relates to HDM.
  • Performs additional tasks as required.

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of nutrition and wellness resources to support the senior population.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices used in kitchen sanitation, safety measures used in food handling and equipment care and cleaning.
  • Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office to include Excel. Must have superior data entry skills as well aptitude for learning industry specific software.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Associate’s Degree in health, business, management, public administration or related field from an accredited college or university required.
  • Must possess a valid Virginia driver’s license.
