Duties & Responsibilities:

Joint Planners Course: (JPC): Conduct a turnkey, 10-day Joint Planners Course focused on the Joint Planning Process (JPP) as written in Joint Publication 5-0, "Joint Planning".

  • Maintain and update course curriculum, instructional material, planning scenarios, and student handouts in accordance with the latest joint doctrine and after-action review outputs from JPSE events.
  • Provide the Government with master copies of all items and instruction guides.
  • In conjunction with government leadership, coordinate all aspects of course execution. This includes providing subject matter expertise on the Joint Planning Process (JPP).

 

MRX Support: Plan, coordinate, and execute quarterly mission readiness exercises to evaluate and assess the overall mission readiness of select JPSE ready forces.

  • Develop and maintain exercise design, storyboards, scenario products, exercise injects, life support plans, and evaluation standards
  • Support the execution of all collective training events with observers, subject matter experts, and white cell/response cell functionality, which may require global temporary duty travel.
  • Provide in-progress reviews and post exercise briefings to JPSE leadership.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of an annual JPSE exercise schedule. This includes accompanying JPSE personnel on Pre-Deployment Site Surveys and planning events to ensure mission support requirements are appropriate for the scope of the exercise.
  • Support JPSE internal assessments and collect lessons learned observations, assist in scheduling after action reviews (AARs), draft reports, and prepare briefings.

 

Joint Force Headquarters (JFHQ) Joint Task Force (JTF) Formation Course: Conduct a turnkey, 3-day JFHQ JTF Formation course as written in Joint Publication 3-33 "Joint Force Headquarters" to enable the rapid establishment of JTFs.

  • Maintain and update all course curriculum and materials based on the latest joint doctrine and after-action reviews.
  • In conjunction with government leadership, coordinate all aspects of course execution, including providing three subject matter experts as course instructors.

Education:

Possess a master's degree from an accredited institution and must be graduates of an advanced planning school (e.g., Joint Advanced Warfighting School (JAWS), School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS), School of Advanced Warfighting (SAWS), School of Advanced Air and Space Studies (SASS), Basic Strategic Art Program (BSAP)).

Experience:

Instructors must be former or retired Field Grade officers (O4-O6) and possess at least 16 years of military service; having been a Joint Qualified Officer (JQO) while in service; having experience serving on a Joint, Combatant Command (CCMD), or Service-level staff at or above the Corps, Marine Expeditionary Forces (MEF), or service-equivalent; and experience with JTF HQs is preferred.
