Sentara Leigh Hospital is hiring an RN for the Emergency Department.

Hours/Shift: Full Time (36 hr/week)/Night Shift

Leigh ED welcomes new grads and experienced nurses interested in moving into this new specialty. The 20-week Transition to Practice program focuses on the orientation transition experience with intentional knowledge support and skill acquisition for practice in the Emergency Department.

Overview:

The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.

We invite you to join our team in a high-volume, fast-paced unit with over 40 beds and more than 100,000 patient visits annually. Our department includes multiple treatment areas that care for patients across all acuity levels, offering diverse clinical exposure and the opportunity to work with a strong team focused on quality outcomes and performance excellence.

Education

  • Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)

  • Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)

Certification/Licensure

  • Registered nursing License (Required)

  • Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nursing License.

  • BLS required within 90 days of hire

  • ACLS & PALS or ENPC within 1 year of hire

Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year emergency, intensive care, intermediate care or med/surg nursing experience preferred. New Grads are welcome to apply!

Sentara Leigh Hospital, located in Norfolk, VA, is a 274-bed acute care facility that opened in 1903 and relocated to its present site in 1977. Our hospital completed a renovation in 2016, including two new patient towers, a beautiful atrium, and a multi-story parking garage. Sentara Leigh Hospital includes a dedicated Orthopedic Hospital providing patients access to a full continuum of orthopedic care, from the preoperative phase and surgery to rehabilitation and home care services.
