Position Overview

Birch Agency is seeking a dedicated and experienced School Psychologist to support students in the Norfolk, Virginia area.

This is a full-time hybrid school-based opportunity serving students across typically two school sites. Depending on district needs, the assignment may include two elementary schools or a combination of one elementary and one secondary school.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about supporting students' academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and developmental needs while collaborating closely with educators, administrators, families, and related service providers.

Position Details

  • Full-time, school-based opportunity

  • Hybrid work arrangement

  • Typically assigned to 2 schools

  • Potential assignments include:

    • 2 elementary schools, or

    • 1 elementary and 1 secondary school

  • Collaborative school environment

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychological and educational evaluations and assessments.

  • Participate in eligibility determinations and multidisciplinary evaluation teams.

  • Support the development and implementation of appropriate educational and behavioral interventions.

  • Provide consultation regarding students' academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and developmental needs.

  • Participate in IEP meetings and assist with the development of appropriate recommendations and supports.

  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, special education staff, families, and related service providers.

  • Monitor student progress and provide recommendations based on assessment and educational data.

  • Maintain accurate evaluation reports, documentation, and student records.

  • Support schools in addressing behavioral and social-emotional concerns.

  • Participate in parent conferences, team meetings, and professional development activities.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable Virginia, district, state, and federal requirements.

Qualifications

  • Master's, Specialist, or Doctoral degree in School Psychology from an accredited program.

  • Valid Virginia School Psychologist credential/license required or eligibility to obtain.

  • Previous school-based experience is a plus.

  • Strong assessment, communication, organization, and collaboration skills.

  • Ability to effectively serve students across multiple school sites and grade levels.

  • Knowledge of special education evaluation procedures, IEP processes, and educational interventions.
