Job Description

Provides high quality therapeutic medical physics services within a dynamic and experienced team of radiation oncologists, medical physicists, dosimetrists and radiation therapists. Areas of clinical responsibilities include but are not limited to treatment planning and delivery process, policies and procedures initiatives, implementation of new clinical technologies and procedures, maintaining a comprehensive medical physics QA/QC program per AAPM/ASTRO/ACR/ACRO standards, systemwide standardization, Sentara radiation safety policies, Virginia Department of Health Standards and duties as assigned. Participates in and performs clinical research as required.

Performs all Virginia Department of Health and North Carolina Radioactive Materials licenses regulatory tasks at their required frequency and maintains accurate records of equipment tests results, daily, weekly, monthly, semiannually and annual surveys, radiopharmaceutical ordering, receiving, administration and waste disposal.

Commission on Accreditation of Medical Physics Education Programs (CAMPEP) Residency and American Board of Radiology (ABR) eligibility OR American Board of Radiology (ABR) eligibility and 3+ years of experience will be accepted in lieu of American Board of Radiology (ABR) Certification

Education

  • Master's Degree in Medical Physics REQUIRED

Certification/Licensure

  • ABR or ABMP Certification REQUIRED

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification REQUIRED

Ā Experience

  • Prior Radiation Physicist experience strongly preferred
