United Support Services, Inc., founded in 2003, is an innovative engineering and technology business headquartered in San Diego, CA. We have an exciting new opportunity and are currently looking for an experienced Pipefitter to provide support to U.S. Navy vessels in the Hampton Roads, VA area. This position offers a competitive salary and unique opportunity to perform various shipboard duties. Military Veterans highly encouraged to apply


Duties and Responsibilities
• Install or repair water, steam, gas, and other types of pipe and pipe fittings.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and written specifications to determine pipe layout and positioning.
• Cut various sizes of pipe to correct lengths using hand tools, oxyacetylene torches, or pipe-cutting machines.
• Thread pipe using stocks and dies and bend pipe using hand-driven or power-driven equipment.
• Assemble pipe systems using couplings, brazing, and fastening methods.
• Perform standard shop computations relating to pressure, flow, and pipe sizing requirements.
• Conduct testing procedures to ensure completed piping systems meet specifications and quality standards.
• Utilize industry-specific hand tools, portable power tools, and manually operated machine tools.
• Perform shaping, bending, fabricating, fitting, and assembly techniques associated with pipefitting operations.
• Maintain strict adherence to safety procedures, quality standards, and good housekeeping practices.
• Work in confined spaces, overhead structures, and beneath machinery as required.
• Driving may be required in support of project operations.
• Employees are expected to provide their own customary trade hand-tools necessary to perform their job duties, subject to applicable federal, state, and local laws.

  • Employees are expected to perform other duties as assigned, including tasks outside of their primary trade, when required to support operational needs. Such assignments may be temporary or may continue for an extended period of time.


Required Experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years of pipefitting experience required; 5 years preferred.
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, sketches, and technical specifications.

• Messing & Berthing Barge Experience preferred.


Qualifications:

• Must have Security Clearance.

• Must have Drivers License.

• Completion of a pipefitting apprenticeship program preferred.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Effective time management and organizational abilities.
• Familiarity with shipyard or maritime work environments.

The physical job requirement involves, but is not limited to, walking, reaching, bending-over, concentration in the presence of noise, lifting items up to 50 lbs., and traversing narrow passageways, climbing ladders/stairs, and operating in confined spaces onboard naval vessels, barges, and in buildings.
